I just spent like 20 minutes out in the cold doing the training mission of hacking some portals and linking them or some such. I got more than a few strange looks from people walking their dogs and such. I take it this is normal and I should get used to that yes? Lol.

Pretty much. You should see it out by me. There are a number of portals misplaced in residential areas. I'm surprised the cops haven't been called on me when I'm sitting out front of someone's house toying with my phone for 5 minutes...

Its possible, from the bootloader as well.. but both are things I've never had to do so don't have experience with.. sorry

I of course don't have a recent backup saved on my computer. Pretty sure this phone is toast, too.

We're skeptical of the security of the private communities as well. The "secure" comm is pretty worthless. It's actually not that busy given the number of players here probably because no one trusts it.
