I've had this happen a few times.
In my case, I generally leave Battery Saver enabled to limit background processes, which also often forces 4G/LTE (5G is notoriously tough on batteries, but really any low-quality mobile signal is, our home is pretty marginal at around -105 - -115dBm). Charging turns this off though, and keeps it off during charging, and if the wireless charger is right on the edge, where the phone indicates charging (disabling Battery Saver), but not really getting enough current, things definitely drain much more quickly.
A lot of this relates to how many apps you have and what background-data permissions they have as well - if the phone isn't completely at zero you can check the overnight usage and get some idea what's contributing, the built-in battery -> app using mapping isn't perfect but it's decent, IME.
I've never seen this on the Stand, but mostly on our older wireless travel chargers, so I'll often go back a few minutes after placing it on the pad, tapping to check the battery value is actually increasing.
