[Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."

Chris, you may or may not have seen this on Reddit, but I give you the Fairly OddPortals:

Morning everyone!

So now that I've had my N7 for a couple weeks the "new toy" feeling has worn off somewhat...

But it's coming back! The 2nd N7 I bought will finally be handed over to it's new owners (my parents) this weekend. I get to introduce them to the world of Android. While I'm a little concerned for them having to learn a new OS, I think they'll be ok after a bit. They're both a little techno-phobic (don't like having to learn new stuff) so I've kept it 100% stock out of the box, with the exception of Apex launcher -- I find it much more intuative, especially considering they're used to Windows on a computer and a tiny 2nd gen iPod touch. I've pre-installed a couple apps that I know they used on the iPod.

Makes me smile. And while I know the "best" option would have just to get them an iPad mini (so they'd feel at home using it), there is no way they would have accepted me spending that much on them. It was hard enough convincing them to take the N7!

Anyway, I'm excited to show them. To them it's mostly just to view emails and Facebook and Pintrest, that sort of thing. But I hope they'll use Google Books and other stuff that I'll show them.

Biggest hurdle? Getting them to "succeed". If they learn how to install and uninstall stuff, change wallpapers, notification sounds, that sort of thing they'll be good to go. Dad will jump in and maybe get ahead of himself a little bit and then get stuck. Mom will be afraid to do ANYTHING for fear of breaking it. So as long as mom feels comfortable doing that stuff, that's going to be 90% of the battle.

They're coming down tomorrow afternoon for a couple hours so I'll let you know how their "initiation" went :)

Have a great weekend, I'll catch ya'll later!

(hey, guys! I heard a rumor that Google is merging with T-Mobile to make the G-Mobile uncarrier, and they'll be selling white N4s exclusive to that carrier!)

(oh, and I didn't steal this rumor from Unicorn Rancher)

Bought my nephew a birthday present today. Seemed appropriate coming from me, lol

Just did two more speed tests. 60ms ping / 3.21 Mbps down / 1.76 Mbps up at my local library, and 724ms ping / 4.05 Mbps down / 1.35 Mbps up around my house.
Both were on 3 bars "H" (not sure if that means HSPA or HSPA+). On Nexus 4.

Yeah, but you can still keep it stock after rooting, can't you?

LIES.

(You see what I did there?)

I'll field this question.
Yes,of course you can stay on the Stock ROM,after rooting and even after unlocking the boot loader. With that being said however as soon as you root your device or unlock it's boot loader, the device is as far as your warranty provider is concerned; No longer stock and they will no longer provide coverage for your device.

Leaked GS4 S Voice app on my N4. Working out pretty well so far. You can also see my terrible Pixlr Express blurring skills.

Yeah, but VTech's newer smartphones have been known to have impressive build quality (no cracked screens) and a low rate of defective units. I dunno; I'd go for it.

What carrier? And which model is it? What processor, how much RAM, what screen, what battery size? So many questions.

Looks like one of those rumored 3.1 GHz decacore Snapdragon 1200 units.

Okay, I'll stop :D
