I used to be able to connect my Note 8 to my Kia Sorento via it's usb connection to run Android Auto.

I'm not sure if it was the latest Samsung update or whatever but now whenever I plug in my phone into my car I get the following error:

'Check your charger conection....make sure that the usb and the charger are properly connected...'

I've tried removing my case, as some has suggested as well as 5 different usb cables. I've tried enabling developer mode and enabled Default USB configuration to Transfer files. I've checked AA permisions. I've uninstalled/installed AA. Still no go. This is driving me batty as it was working for the past 4 years?

Any help appreciated.

Have you tried turning off the phone and then charging while off? You eliminate all software issue by doing that and when you plug in, you'll still see the charging info pop up.

If it doesn't, plugging in another friends/family members cell phone in the car charger will let you know if it's the car or phone.

If you think it was timely that it happened after a monthly update, then I'd say the update killed it.

Is the phone set for "charge only"? It shouldn't be. If it's not, it's probably the update, so you'll have to connect via Bluetooth.

I've tried 100 different ways to get the car to recognize the phone. I'll try turning if off as you say.

I went into developer mode and changed the Default USB configuration to 'Transfer Files'. Still no go.

With Android Auto you MUST connect via USB and Bluetooth. The bluetooth connects.

If you can try another device or phone see if the car usb working properly.
