"Chrome is using battery" - New pop-up on my phone.

At a Google update (google oriented phone LG Rebel/using Oreo/Total wireless) the above pop-up appeared in my status bar and I can't get rid of it.

It's useless (of Course Chrome is using battery, I'M USING IT!) and annoying (it blinks!) and on top of that it stays there (crowding my valuable space) after Chrome is shut down to tell me, "Chrome used battery" in the past tense.

Any tips or advice on how to kill this thing?

Which app is giving you that notification? It should say in small print when you swipe down the notification panel. Is it an "Android System" notification, or is it some other battery manager app?

Try clearing data, cache , force stop chrome , it will reset the whole app .

B. Diddy: Thanks.

The icon says "Android System;"

I have under "Battery": "Battery % on status bar," (i.e. to be there) but that's a separate level indicator.

I have Chrome as excluded from Battery Saver, but it was long before this pop-up.

In "Apps, Show System," there are 8 titled Android. At "Android System" there is nothing but the usual for any app.. No place to turn off another app's, whatever. In fact, Chrome is not among the 56 "Other apps included in usage."
Could there be something in one of the other 7?

Sorry about the delay, had trouble figuring it all out, and I had no notification from Android Central that I had a reply.. One more thing to figure out.

Thoots: Thanks, I will try that.. Except Chrome is definitely not "unused," but I'll see what happens with the Home&App drawer icon off.

Mustang 7757- Thanks, but I'm reluctant to reset Chrome, as it's my most used app, and the data loss would be a huge setback. If none of these others work I may try it anyway.. However, this pop-up appeared after a Google update (this LG Rebel is Totally Google! thu Total wireless) and since I'm afraid they will simply do it again, that would all be for nothing.

I'll report back either way.

No problem , let us know

To All:
OK, I got it.

I had to exclude Chrome from Battery Saver & shut phone Off/On.

Beware, however, anyone else needing to do this: it changed a slew of things on my homepage. Had to put missing apps icon buttons back into their folders, remake my wallpaper, rearrange the placements of half the other icons... Nothing serious, but a hassle none the less, and no guarantee Google won't reset things Again! in one of their monthly updates. A price I didn't know of when I signed up for this Total wireless phone and account at Wallyworld.

Thanks for everyone's interest.
