Anyone notice that the tabs in chrome keep refreshing as you are moving back and forth between them? Its really annoying. I read something on one page for 2 minutes, then try to switch to another already opened tab and it refreshes first. The n7 on kit kat doesn't do this. I have read some complaints about this over on XDA as well, but can't find a definitive answer as to why. Is it a lack of memory on this tablet or a problem with lollipop or a combination of both? I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks/notices.

Yes, it always reloads tabs, not sure why. Chrome hasn't been that great, even on other devices.

I have had No problems ever with chrome on the n7 or n5. This n9 just seems like it doesn't want me to use it. ;)

I just gave it a run using puffin web browser tonight and i can say that the whole damn tablet seems snappier. Not only does it not reload every page but the browsing speed is almost twice as fast and homepage reloads are gone and all lag too. It seems that chrome does not play well with this tablet. Its like using a different and much better tablet now. Puffin has its own drawbacks but this has pushed me to start a quest for the perfect browser as chrome clearly is not it (for the n9 anyway)

I should say it "almost always" reloads. As I notice it doesn't always, depending on page content and how many tabs are open. I tend to get Chrome lockups from time to time.

True, but for me its 95% of the time after 2 or so minutes and after 5 minutes its always.

Also just to let everybody know i have confirmed it now. Chrome is what causes almost everything evil about this tablet!!! As impossible as that sounds. This is the tablet i have always wanted now without using chrome. Almost all little bugs are gone and even my battery life is about 50% better. Absolutely incredible! I suspected something when i saw chrome was taking up 25-40% of my battery over the given life of a full charge. It was even taking up double or triple what the screen was!!! Wow. Now with puffin everything is normal. I currently have over 70% left with 2.5 hours sot, and that even includes a half hour of streaming video with screen at 3/4 brightness.

I tried out Dolphin again and had similar results, basically minimal delay on tab switching. Chrome needs help.

There is a memory leak bug with the firmware, google is aware of it, but until its fixed apps will close in the background because of the lack of available RAM. This is why if you open another app or two then go back to Chrome... The app will have to restart because it had closed. With this bug our devices will feel like a 1GB RAM device but I can put up with it as it will be fixed when 5.1 is released

Well its been quite a long time living with it and while I'm patient and enjoy the N9 the lack of an update is now bordering on unacceptable levels given its a nexus device.

I ditched chrome as well, and use puffin, and I don't see the constant OoM issues or symptoms. If nexus is supposed to showcase AOSP in its intended form then I'm not sure I understand the 5mo its now been with this issue.

Not complaining just not sure I buy the "I can wait" argument because that's not why we bought a nexus.
