I am trying to setup a 3rd gen Chromecast. During setup, Google home will see dongle but will not connect to the wifi. I am using a Linksys e5350 for wifi only, no internet. This will be going into out RV.
I know I'm providing the barest of info, any help is greatly appreciated. This same dongle will find my Google fiber network.

Welcome to AC!
That Linksys e5350 is a router , where you getting WiFi from?

The router. There is no ISP connection. My PC and phone both recognize and connect, however no internet connectivity.

No WiFi I'm not understanding how your connecting to internet? Hotspot? The router communicating with some internet connection?

The router provides a wireless network. It's not connected to a hot spot or modem so there is no internet access.

Welcome to Android Central! I hesitated to respond to this thread, because I have no experience with using Chromecast on a wi-fi network that's not connected to the web. I can't find anything in the official Google help pages about it, but 3rd party sites do say it's possible. Lifewire mentions that you need to make sure the Chromecast firmware is up to date first, which would require the wi-fi network to be connected to the web temporarily: https://www.lifewire.com/use-chrome...the Chromecast can work, cast to and select it.

Welcome to the forums. I think it's possible but only to mirror any connected device. I'll check later, in the meantime enable the Guest Mode for the Chromecast in Google Home app and see if it works.
