PLEX has just moved Chromecast streaming to public. No need for a subscription anymore. Below is their email to subscribers:

After its early access release to Plex Pass members, Chromecast support is now available to all Plex users as promised! Not familiar with the feature?*Read up*on the awesomeness that is Plex plus Chromecast. General availability is perfectly timed with a number of Chromecast updates:
Plex for Chromecast now supports music and photos, making your experience with the Google dongle even richer. The feature is available immediately via*plex.tv/web, iOS, and Android.Content Mirroring is now available. It allows you to fling the details of your media from your mobile device onto the big screen as you're browsing your library. You'll need the latest Android or iOS app for this to work.Video streaming has been enhanced. It now allows for most 1080p content to stream without transcoding, and fixes some reliability issues with the older streaming method. Make sure you have the latest*media server*and enjoy!
