Chromecast Compatible Apps [10 apps added]

Re: Chromecast Compatible Apps [23Jul - Play Music,Movies,Netflix,Hulu,Rdio,HBO GO]

How do you get it to push? If I click on "install," it tells me that I don't have any eligible devices for app install, even though neither my S3 nor my N7 have received the update. I'm not that concerned about getting it ASAP... I'm just curious if there's a way to circumvent the rollout through the Play Store like you suggested.
Then you already have the update

I definitely don't have the update and it won't let me install it either the way you describe. When I go to it Google Play logged into my account, it says it is already installed and is greyed out for my device. I even uninstalled all updates and tried to reinstall it and it still gave the same version I was previously on - 4.1.32

No, like the other poster, I'm still on 4.1.32. I was just curious if I was missing something as I said before.

Let me first say that I'm a fan of Plex. I am, however, confused as to why it is considered free. The app costs $2.99 and there is a subscription fee for the Plex Pass to use Chromecast. I'm not saying that's bad... it's a very useful tool. I'm just saying maybe it's miscategorized on this list.

Re: Chromecast Compatible Apps [23Jul - Play Music,Movies,Netflix,Hulu,Rdio,HBO GO]

Anyone have any success using Koush's Allcast to cast local videos? I mean it'll cast, but they lag horribly. A video i've shot with my Nexus 5 will play for like 2 seconds, then stop to buffer, play another 2 seconds, stop to buffer, etc. Is this just the way it is?

Im at work anyone try to cast local content yet??

I would recommend Avia which allows you to Cast local content from your mobile and from your shared HD from your home network (NAS).

AllCast is another app that would work fine but no NAS support and works with Apple tv too (Need the latest Google Service Play).

Both Apps is paid to get the chromecast support.

Haven't gotten home yet to try it, but BubbleUPNP just got an update that allows for chromecasting! Let's hope it works well.

Anyone figure out how to cast PowerPoints yet?

I'm also thinking the ability to cast a mobile web browser would be really handy for demos...at this point I'm thinking how useful this would be in a trade show booth.

Not from a phone, but from a laptop you can cast your whole screen and run Powerpoint just like you normally would. I've done presentations like this.

If one has a laptop handy what does one need with Chromecast hmm? ;-) Just connect a VGA or HDMI cable when you get down to it.

I personally don't like carrying around 50 feet or more of cable with me, not to mention that some people don't want to spend that kind of money. Not everyone is operating in the same circumstances or with the same equipment and setup. Just because you personally have no use for it doesn't mean there is no use for it. You might want to think a bit before you make your next smart remark....

Oh please, you don't want to carry around an HDMI or VGA cable but you'll carry around a Chromecast dongle and enough USB cable to run power to it? Clearly any smart remark I make will go way over your head.

Not everyone is operating in the same circumstances or with the same equipment and setup. If you can't stand having that pointed out to you when you suggest something I personally have no use for then you're on the wrong Internet.

I'd love to get Xfinity on Chromecast so I can not have to use the outdated cable box menus or the jet engine Xbox 360

Re: Chromecast Compatible Apps [23Jul - Play Music,Movies,Netflix,Hulu,Rdio,HBO GO]

I wonder if there is an easy way to watch media from a laptop to the Chromecast without setting up servers or streaming through the browser.

Like if I have a downloaded movie in the VLC format .. just zip it to the tv.
