I was just wondering the same thing. I am going to a hotel this weekend and I don't want to pay for internet. I would like to be able to stream movies I have on my phone or tablet in ad hoc mode. Does anyone know if this is possible? My Chromecast is coming in the mail today and I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

Right now you can only stream from a laptop or PC, nothing from the phone or tablet. (yet).

It's happening to me on my Nexus 4. It's really annoying and makes Netflix to Chromecast unusable right now through my Nexus 4. Using my ipad to stream Netflix to Chromecast until this is worked out.

Supposedly the last update to Netflix fixed this issue. It had something to do with 4.3.

For now the chromecast can only be used on personal Wi-Fi only. Plus I just found out that it won't work with my 5ghz signal which is twice as fast as my 2.5. I didn't see this was something people were already having issues with. Oh well. Google is always updating. Can't wait for more updates

It would be awesome if there was a Chromecast extension for Firefox on Android. Then flash from mobile (after ICS) would work with HBO Go and Hulu. Or my Xfinity app. Since I don't have a computer.

Aircast will be hitting the play store soon.
Its still in beta AirCast for Android sends local or cloud videos to Chromecast, test it out now

The problem is SOON is entirely dependant on Google at this point. SOON could be next week, next month, or intime for the holiday shopping season. Just becuase someone is able to reverse engineer something does not mean Google will let that app in the Playstore before the the dev kit coems out of BETA.

So I was just looking through my twitter feed and PocketCasts said "@pocketcasts We've figured out how to get Pocket Casts to play nice with the ChromeCast The Badnews: Google is not yet allowing prod apps to use it" followed by "@pocketcasts As far as we know Google haven't accounced a date yet for Google Cast to become official and allowed to be in third party apps"

Yeah, this just means 3rd party apps can't be released yet until Google finalizes the SDK. Hopefully this happens soon. I really think when this is finally out of beta, you'll see a flurry of apps available for the Chromecast very quickly.

Or you will hear crickets from all the developers leaving from having to wait so long. I love my chromecast but Google really needs to open the gate for 3rd party apps soon.

Is there a group maintained list of supported apps anywhere? If not, I've started this google spreadsheet which anyone can update or copy.
