Cleaning the camera lens?

I'm having problems cleaning the camera lens on my X. When I take pictures indoors they appear slightly foggy or any light-producing object gives a decent glare in the picture. The glare looks streaky, so I am guessing it's a lens issue. The lens doesn't look dirty or damaged. I have tried to clean the lens and the pictures still look the same. Outdoor pictures are usually a little soft-looking. I expect a little bit of glare here and there from a cell phone camera, but not this much and certainly not so streaky.

Does anyone else have the same problem, or how do you keep it from doing this? How do you keep yours clean?

Thanks for the sample pic! It's hard to really diagnose a problem without one.

I had the same issue, I was wiping down the lens with my finger and then cleaning up that with my shirt sleeve (poly/cotton blend). It looked clean, but produced the same streaking. Using a cotton cloth works better, but ideally look for a small microfiber cloth. The come with a lot of electronics today (and screen protectors), or they're pretty cheap at a camera shop. They're also great for cleaning off the screen.

Here's a link to some of my own pics with that issue:

Buy a box of those little packets containing a damp cloth designed to clean glasses. I use one each day on the screen and camera lens. After you clean it using the cloth, use a lint-less piece of cloth (also available in the "glasses" dept.) to clear off any residual smearing. Works great!

Good idea to try the eyeglass cleaning cloths, Arelunde! I'll have to remember to pick some up. I've never had that streaking issue, but it does look like maybe some oils were on the glass when that photo was taken. I would think using your finger to clean it would make it even worse, since skin has oils in that can smudge it up.

Thanks guys! I'll give it a try!
