I know there area few others whom have noticed that battery life is drastically affected by resetting the battery stats. I get 34 to 36 hours with moderate use. . Lots of poweramp and a bit of google maps daily. But after completely discharging and fully recharging, I only get about15 to20 hours, and thats squeezing out every minutei can get.
I know completely discharging the LiIon battery is hard on it and will most likely dramatically shorten its life span, but is there any harm being done to the rest of the device by constantly resetting the batt stats to get the longest battery life possible?

lions dont have a memory effect. ie you can accidentally discharge without any real problem. that said it is still best practice for any type of battery to keep it fully charged at all times if you are using it.

if you dont plan on using a device for a long time store it at about 60% capacity.

My bad, I Think you missed my point. I tend to ramble on. im using the device, not storing it. Hence the need for more juice...im just concended that I maybe causing excessive wear and tear on something i am unaware of.
And yes you are correct. Liions tend not to retain a memory. Although they do have a mtbf and discharging the Batt down to its lowest depths is harder on it than say, letting it get no lower than 30% remaining before charging. Not memory, just longevity.

Call me crazy but I noticed the same thing awhile ago! It seems to have mixed itself after a week or two and I don't plan on ever resetting the battery stats ever again. I've only reset twice and you should not be resetting the battery stats frequently.

After reading what this Diane Hackborn wrote about resetting the batt stats, i figured id give this a bump. I assume (ass...u...me...)that she knows her shuff, but I work for the worlds largest microprocessor manufacturer (not sposed to name drop) for years and there are plenty of people who truly believe they know what they're talking about, but really have no clue. Just cause shes a google eng doesnt mean shes knows it all. sooo many variations in devices and builds and software. but i digress....
What she is saying doesn't jive what I'm seeing in real world use (i know, shocking right?). According to her, wiping the batt stats should have no noticeable effect whatsoever in terms of battery life and lasting power. But from 100% charged to shut down, with similar use (difficult to be exact) I'm seeing almost twice the batt life after wiping stats. I unplug my phone at 6am everyday. If i wipe stats before unplugging, the phone will last at least until noon the following day. That's over 30 hrs. 38 is my max. However, If i don't wipe, it's dead by 10 oclock that night. Only 16 hours average with a 20 hour max. And this is repeatable, i can do it any time, any day, anywhere. So either my phone has a uniquely possessed batt stats function, theres something else going on that I (and mrs, ms, miss hackborn) am unaware of, or shes wrong. Either way im not crazy, lots of people have told me that what im seeing is impossible or not happening, but it is.

Its all in your mind. As stated all wiping battery ststs do is clear the crap list that shows usage.
