Clicking During Calls? Dafu?

Hi Guys,

I apologize for whatever forum-newb tropes I commit here, but I just had a quick question regarding my new v10.

A couple days after I purchased the phone, I noticed a quiet "click, click, click, etc" coming from the earpiece speaker. Has anybody else noticed this? It almost makes me think my phone is being tapped, its always how I imagined that would sound!

I have dropped the phone once, but there was no damage done to any other part of the phone. With my severely limited knowledge of the workings of phone speakers, I concluded that dropping the phone wouldn't cause this, mainly because I have been dropping phones since 'Nam and haven't experienced this before.

Any help is appreciated!

BONUS ROUND: I have also been curious as to if I can use my LG v10's fast charger to fast charge other things (I'm guessing its probably not a good idea for other phones, but maybe less sensitive gadgetry like a blue tooth speaker, my poi, etc)?

Thanks Guys! :p

Hi there!

1) The clicking CAN be caused by dropping the phone, but it's unlikely unless it was a big drop. You can test this out by checking if the clicking appears on other audio types or just calls. If it's just calls, it could be an issue with either the phone's calling settings or your carrier, or interference from other devices, even (for instance, if you place a cellphone near a radio and you call it, you'll hear a rhythmic series of noises on the radio just before the phone rings; same idea).

2) Your fast charger has special circuitry inside to detect which devices are fast-charging compatible. Any device you plug in that isn't compliant with the Fast Charging standard used by the LG V10's charger, will default to a 'normal' 2A USB output, which will charge things faster than a normal USB port (around 500mA or 1A), but still isn't Fast Charging speeds.

Welcome to the forum. It could still be the earpiece speaker even if it doesn't exist with other audio sources. Most other audio would come from the device speaker on the bottom not the earpiece speaker at the top. I agree that it's very unlikely to be the earpiece speaker too. I'd probably blame carrier noise/interference first.

Thank you!

That is something I was struggling with, I can't find another source of audio that plays from the earpiece speaker for me to test theories with. If anybody knows of something that plays through the earpiece other than calls, please holla atcha boy!

Thanks for all your helpful info!

You mention call settings, are those settings that I can tinker with on my phone, or would I need to contact my service provider?

If they are something I can access on my phone, where would I find them? I am super stoked about my decision to switch over from iOS to Android, but on a daily basis I understand more and more what they say about iOS having appeal based in simplicity.

Thanks again for your time and expertise!

Voicemail should play through the earpiece.

Those can be either in the General phone Settings (they would be under Call or Phone or something) or if you're in the Phone app, there should be a Settings option in the menu. Don't have a V10 so I can't test to give you an exact path. However, note that some call options are carrier-dependent, so you might or might not have some available in your phone, as that would depend on the modifications your carrier has made.

If you have VoLTE try disabling that and see if it helps. (again, not something I'm sure the V10 supports or not).

Open your phone app, hold down the menu button at the bottom of the phone (square button), A menu will pop up with call settings as a choice. I see there are some noise suppression and voice clarity tools plus a secondary sound setting menu at the bottom. They may be in a slightly different location depending on your carrier since mine is AT&T. I hope this helps you out.

Thank you also for your helpfulness and general chilliness! I went through and tinkered with those guys, and I had my carrier (AT&T, shoot me) reset my network settings. I feel like it has gone away, so again, thanks everybody!!

It could also be that it never was there to begin with...? Twilight Zone...? Scary Door...?

We will never know.

That's the scary part: We'll never know. I'm glad things got fixed, but it bugs me when things get 'fixed' without an explanation haha. I'm sure it's got something to do with AT&T (as they're the ones I've seen the most reports of 'clicking' noises) but we still don't know EXACTLY what triggers it.

With Sprint yes I noticed this. But with the g4. Returned it
.went to tmo with the v10.
