Clipboard Malware

Hello Everyone,

This is Jeffrey and I am newbie here.
I was sending a message on WhatsApp and suddenly my Antivirus shows a popup detecting a thread.
I got a error message stating 'your clipboard content might be monitored by another application'.
It's asking to me to 'delete call heading.Prevent other people and apps from trying into your call logs'.
Its asking to delete or dismissed.

Please help me.
Its taking me nowhere.

It is hard to say, but if you are a newbie you should stick to Google Play for some time (no sideloading). And not to use antivirus, it will just confuse you. Not to say that on many places they'll tell you that you have a virus just to persuade you to do something.

Welcome to Android Central! The message you describe makes it sound like it isn't malware, but rather a warning that some app has permissions to your call log or clipboard. My guess is that it's WhatsApp, which would seem like an appropriate permission, since WhatsApp can make calls and presumably also uses the clipboard. So it's probably a false positive.

I agree with @labsii about not using antivirus apps. For the most part, it's still quite difficult to get an actual virus on your phone, because malware requires you to manually accept the installation (which is why they try to fool you into thinking you're installing something legitimate). Use common sense:

1. Avoid shady websites that deal with things like porn, gambling, and "free" (aka pirated) apps/music/movies.


2. Never ever tap on a link that appears in a popup while browsing, especially if they're warning you that your phone is infected -- they're just trying to scare you into installing some bogus "antivirus" app that is probably malicious itself.


3. Only install apps from well-established app sources like Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore. Read a bunch of app reviews before installing an app to look for any complaints about adware or suspected malware.


4. Turn on Google's "Verify Apps" function. This allows Google to periodically scan your phone's apps to look for malware. It's usually in your Google Settings app, under Security (although it might also be in the main System Settings, in Settings>Security).


5. Turn off "Unknown Sources" in Settings>Security. This prevents any app that wasn't obtained from Google Play Store from being installed (which could include malicious apps that are inadvertently downloaded).

Thank you guys. I think the issue is with the Antivirus Application only.
First it gave me an error and when I scanned my phone it showed no threats found.
Thank you again for your suggestions. I think I should get rid of this AV Application.
