Some time yesterday my phone clock has reset itself 1 hour ahead. Turning the phone off then in again doesn't help. The right time zone is selected.

On CDMA phones anyway (such as from Verizon), the clock in the phone is set by the cell site, at a much lower level in the operating system than any application, and it has nothing to do with GPS on the phone: the cell site knows what time zone it is in (and the time, down to the microsecond), and sends that information to the phone in the low-level network registration protocol. If the Automatic date & time and Automatic time zone are set in the Date & Time setting, then the finger is pointing at the cell site. The CDMA protocol requires tight time synchronization among adjacent cell sites, so getting accurate time to the phone for the user is a nice side benefit.
Where is the turbo encabulator in all this?![]()
