Clock / Lock Screen & GMail?

I love the feature to slide your finger down the off screen and it pops the time and date up. but this only work if you have screen lock enabled. Like to where you have to swipe, put in a code, pattern to unlock the screen.

I'd like to be able to not have a screen lock on and have the clock still slide down from the top. Anyway to do this?

Also, does one HAVE to have a Gmail account to use the phone? I'd like to not have to sign in with my gmail. I know it's Android based, but it should be an option to not use one?

The slide down clock view works fine with no screen lock. You just have to make sure that quick circle case is turned OFF in the settings.

As for the GMAIL account, you need it for the play store, and for backups.

Does this only work for certain models? My Sprint version doesn't seem to do this.

It works on my G4 but I gotta say that it is touchy. I have to try 3-4 times to get it to show with a downward swipe.

Just got my new H815 and it won't work unless I have a lock screen on. Did this with my old VS986 also. I don't see why it's not working!

Yup, nice gimmick but the effort is not really worth it. I find that if you swipe down from the very top to around 1/3 of the screen and then wait a fraction of a second (you'll see the blue LED show) it will work.
