Clockwork Problem after Simpleroot

"An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!"
The above line is currently the bane of my existence.

I broke down yesterday and finally tried my first (thank you kind-of-simpleroot) android root. Flash exploits are genius. Though, refreshing the flash page at just the right time was more of a challenge than I'd like to admit. I gave my money to Clockwork and Titanium for full versions because everyone says they are worth it. Who am I to buck the trend? All was well...
Then I tried to Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. I got the aforementioned privileged commands error. So, I tried the Fix Permissions utility and I got the same message (this should fix it according to other forums I've read). I've tried flashing alternate recoveries. Again, to no avail.
I do know that my root took. Titanium and Busybox play together like fast friends. Anyone have advice? I'm still searching other forums for a fix. Haven't found anything yet. I appeal to you, humble forumite. My EVO cries for new roms.

Go back to simple Root, go to extra (on top, next to file). Choose Recovery, you will get two choices, I prefer Clockwork. Then you can flash any ROM. The software on the phone after simple root is old. Thats why you need to flash a more current version.

Thanks. I actually already did this. I also made sure to try and redownload recoverymod and paid for the registered version.

Have you tried simply re-flashing the newest clockwork recovery directly from the clockwork app?

that's actually the very first thing I tried and what led to the message in the first place.

Try the following thigs and tell me what happens.

Turn off your phone, turn it back on by holding "Power and Volume down". choose recovery. If you see the recovery, Flash a rom and that will solve the problem.

I you don't have a recovery, then Go back to Simple root and flash the other recovery Amon. See if that works.

Well... I booted into recovery and it borked my phone. I'm caught in an infinite reboot loop.

After you finished with the simple root the first time, did you wipe and flashed any ROMS?

take the battery out and go back to simple root and flash the other recovery "Amon"
Flash a ROM, but don't forget to do a wipe.

I had a similar problem with my phone, I couldn't get clockwork to work. I flash a recovery using simple root. Then I flash a rom and problem solve.
I got ROM Manager from the market and I was able to do a back up.

Ok. Obviously I'm new to this. When you say make certain to wipe, is that the "wipe data/factory reset" option or "wipe cache partition"?
Edit 1: And no, I haven't flashed any ROMS.
Edit 2: I can't believe I'm in above my head here. I thought I was at least reasonably tech savvy. I don't want to give up, but I find myself scratching my head and forum surfing without luck. For example, I don't know HOW to flash a ROM. I thought that's what Clockwork was supposed to be doing (which I can't get to work because of that error message). When I boot to the loader and try to Flash a ROM that I have copied (ZIP) to the top menu. It gives me an error... I really do apologize for the hand holding here. It's just embarrassing at this point.

Have you tried updating to the newest stock rom 1.47? This is worth a shot
How to start over: Fully rooted stock 1.47.651.1 in one shot (no adb!) - xda-developers It installs like an update, no flashing needed. It install RA recovery with it for free and then you can use that to flash the clock work recovery.
