I was under the impression, that to close an app, one had to press the back button till you're back to the main screen on the device...

Is that not the case?

I just tested with Twitter. I opened the app, checked my stream, then pressed the back button a few times till I was back to the main screen.
I then held the home button, and it was still showing in the 'Task Manger'.

So, I guess the question is, how does one REALLY close an app? Is the only way via the Task Manager?

Thanks in advance

Ivan

I have gotten in the habit of holding down the Homescreen button to do it.

That confused me at first too. Holding down that button doesn't REALLY get you into "Task Manager." It gets you to a display of your most recently used apps. In the bottom left is a "Task Manager" button you can click. Then, at the top of the screen, make sure you select "Active Applications." You'll find that not nearly all of the ones you saw in the first screen are still running.

Thanks for the Task Manager tip.. Now that I've had my GS3 for almost one week, its good to learn all these tips. So far am really liking this phone, though there are some small things that I have to get accustomed to. Overall this device makes my old iP3G seem like a real dud!
