CM7 & Power Button Issue

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem, but my EVO (hardware version 0004) has been doing this the last two days.

Problem: When EVO is in standby, I can't always bring it out of standby with the first press of the power button. Sometimes I need to press it several times or even press and hold like I'm trying to shut the EVO off.

The main change that I have done is that I installed GoLauncher because ADW seemed to keep crashing on me. ADW had been crash-prone with the kernel that installs with CM7 as well as with the latest Savaged-Zen kernels (BFS & CFS).

I have since uninstalled GoLauncher, but the problem persists. Should I just do a "Factory Data Reset" or is it worth a wipe and reflash of CM7.

Any thoughts on ADW's crashing? The crashing phenomena is that the phone gets laggy switching between screens and then the launcher bar at the bottom of the screen will disappear. The only way to recover it is to reboot the phone or to apply the theme (stock or otherwise). Resetting ADW from the ADW settings page doesn't fix it.

However, I use ADW EX and I haven't had any crashes at all. Is the ADW you were using the one that comes with cm7 or the non paid version from the market? I been using the EX on cm7 for months now. I'm currently on 7.0.2.1.

For the launcher bar at the bottom, do you have any swipe gestures that would cause it to hide? For example on mine to hide the bar I just swipe up and it hides its. Swipe up again and it brings it back. This could also be a down swipe.

Just some of my thoughts that might be happing.

I am presently using the ADW that comes with CM7 and it is the same version of ADW that is on the market (1.3.6). I'm not really interested in the extras that come with ADW EX, so I'm a bit hesitant to buy it if it isn't going to solve the problem.

No, I don't have any swipe gestures set that would cause it to hide, but that was a good suggestion.

i had this kind of problem while using Savaged-Zen's ROM. What I heard from people over at xda is that it might have something to do with the kernel, over/underclock settings, and/or the governors.

i havent experienced an issue like this while on CM7 yet....i'll see if i can replicate it

The older SZ kernels are known to have that wake up issue. SZ 2.1.0 seems to wake up pretty quick.

My Evo has been doing this for as long as I've had CM7, regardless of whether I use ADW or GoLauncher. I think I've had different kernels too but I haven't in some time so I might try that to see if it fixes it.

Might not seem like a big deal but it really drives me nuts.

Just to follow up, I did a "Factory data reset" and the problem is gone.

I am going to flash the latest SZ kernel and see how that plays.

I've had this issue too. The problem is not that it doesn't wake up, I found, it's that the phone wakes up but the backlight does not illuminate. You can see it every so slightly if you place the phone at the proper angle to a bright light that the display is on but unlit. So far on 7.0.2.1 with Tiamat 3.3.8 I haven't had it happen, but it was a regular occurrence at one point for me.
