I was wondering if anyone has every played around in this menu.
I came across the Phone information option. Then found the Set Preferred Network type.
I noticed mine was set on WCMDA. Which seemed weird to me so I selected the CDMA auto (PRL)
Not sure if I have better coverage or data speeds yet since I justed swithced it. Has anyone else
made this change? Here are the steps I used to find the menu and make the change.

1.Open the phone keypad and enter the following: *#*#4636#*#*

2) Select 'Phone information'

3) Scroll to bottom of page and notice how 'Set preferred network type:' alternates between 'Unknown' and 'WCDMA'

4) Change to CDMA auto (PRL) and select 'Update' and then scroll up to see an improvement in Signal Strength.

Changing that option doesn't "stick". If you go back in, it will show WCDMA again.

When I went back in it was still cdma

I set mine to GSM just to seecwhatvwould happan it rebooted and said no sim lol put it back too CD a auto prl and I am now at 5 all the tome woo thanks for this

Im beginning to think it is the crappy Sprint network.

Ive got the Roam Control app and force roaming on my NS4G at work and get full bars all of the time and it works flawlessly...no signal drops or anything...even with it saying WCDMA preferred...

But yes, my selection does not "stick"...

how do you "update." the only update button I see is for "smsc" which I do not believe has anything to do with the preferred network selection?

If I hit the back button, it returns to wcdma preferred...

Updating PRL helps, but Sprint's servers are just crap.
I'm a repair tech for Verizon, & I can tell you that Verizon's network is way more advanced than Sprint's. Sprint needs to spend some money to upgrade their equipment.
I switched to Sprint to save $, even with my employee siscount at verizon, sprint is almost half price each month to cover my family phone bill. But I'm starting to think big red may be worth the extra money.
