I am new to Android coming from BB. Love my new Galaxy Nexus Prime. I really only have one issue with it. Each morning when I open my email the first couple of emails are dated December 31st 1969. I notice this issue on other threads but didn't find a fix. Haven't seen it on this forum? What is the issue and how do I solve it?
Thanks

I am having a similar issue with my Comcast email account.

I frequently receive email notifications advising of new emails, which turn out to be 1 to 6 blank emails dated 12/31/69. I never had this problem with my last phone (HTC Evo on Sprint). I discussed this issue with the local Verizon store; they said the 12/31/69 date was some kind of default date without further explanation. It was recommended that I delete the account & re-install it, but the same problem surfaced within hours.

Similarly, I frequently receive "new" emails on the Comcast account which are "old" emails from a week or more before they are received (again, after they have been deleted from the phone -- but saved on my desktop). There is no issue with my Gmail account.

Since this never happened on my Sprint phone, I'm guessing this is a Verizon issue -- but their answer did not resolve the problem. Any ideas out there?

I just have my old Comcast email POPped over to my GMail. Not the greatest system in the world, but it gets the stuff that I care about. And I never give anyone my old Comcast email anymore.

In my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus I also regularly (1) have old and already read Comcast emails show up as new unread emails (and I don't use Gmail often so I don't want to sync them - if that's what it's called), (2) get a bunch of blank emails dated 12/31/69, and (3) get a yellow notification bar that says "Couldn't open connection to server". I assumed these were common problems that would be fixed by updates from Samsung or Verizon - but it's been going on for over 1 1/2 months. Any ideas? (I'm new to Android Central, so please be patient.) Thanks

Same problems here with comcast pop email. One thing i miss from my droid x is motos pop email app. Googles is garbage cause my asus transformer does the same thing with comcast email and thats the stock google pop app too.

Still getting the comcast back in time emails but i downloaded the xfinity mobile app and found its a pretty good email app. I just set it to open up to email whwn i open the app. Im not getting those blank anymore.

I'm not sure why you're getting the blank e-mails, but I can at least explain the date. The beginning of time for Unix computers was January 1, 1970. Unix time is kept as the number of seconds since that time. Programmers sometimes use -1 to indicate an error. If the time field is filled with -1, you end up at 23:59:59 on December 31, 1969.

If nothing else it confirms that there is an error going on somewhere, and that the date isn't random.

Well i dont enjoy getting blank emails from the first unix computer so the xfinity app seems to prevent it.

I haven't had the 1969 problem with my Nexus (which I've had since launch date) yet, but I had it a lot on my old OG Droid. Verizon reps were no help in figuring it out.

I get those on my Comcast account also, but I also occasionally got them with my iPhone 3GS. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying.

One little annoyance with the stock e-mail app is that the "get more messages" command seems to bring up older 'regular' messages as well as ones I'd sent to the trash. Anyone else have that experience?

I have that too. Never had it with Motos email app but the nexus and transformer always dumps old mail in my inbox.
