3 co-workers of mine pre-ordered an iPhone 4 yesterday because absolutely no Sprint Store has any in stock! All 3 of them put their names on the waiting list and at this point their more inclined to wait for the iPhone than the Evo! HTC is really dropping the ball here, with so many ppl trying to get their hands on the Evo, they should've produced a lot more than the initial batch!

They didn't expect this much demand, it's normal. Your co-workers didn't switch to the iPhone because EVO is sold out, they wouldn't simply subject themselves to those caps and insanely higher prices just like that.

Yeah, they probably should have dumped their entire operating budget into producing this phone, so nobody would have to wait. And maybe stopped all advertising and promotion. And stopped producing every other phone, maybe canceled R&D for a few months.

They're doing the best they can.

You would also think that htc would advertise themselves.
And sprint made better advertisements for the palm pre, but palm ads ruined that.

Just like Apple learned from the iPhone that they always need to produce enough for every fanboi to buy two on launch day. That's why the iPad was stacked on shelves for days and nobody went wanting. Oh, wait. . . .

I think people should ease up on the iPhone.

I'm not going to go into the "iPhone killer" argument, but there are so many phones out there and so many coming down the pipe shortly that are comparable or more capable than the iPhone that the iPhone has just become "another phone" at this point.

It is expensive to make the phones and they had no way to know how many they would sell. They didn't make a few million of them hoping they would sell. What if it didn?t? They make a certain estimated number and if it sells they make more. Business is business.


The iPad took Apple by surprise and they are trying to churn them out as fast as they can. Why didn?t Apple make 25 million of them up front so no one would have to wait?? Come on.. Hell the cases for those are always sold out and on back order. The iPhone will sell like crazy and I will tell you now that there will be shortages even with Apple knowing how well it will sell!!!

As for your co workers, no way would someone get an entirely different platform phone on a totally different carrier because one was sold out. Hell by the time the iPhone ships I bet they would have had an Evo. I call BS on that one! They were always going to be stupid.. err getting the iBlown (sic-Quote me for calling it this!!!) ii

I have an Evo and switched my other line from Verizon to Sprint yesterday and I guess I must be a lucky SOB because I walked into the store with wife and daughter trailing and asked if I could get an Evo for the wife and walked out with one and a Samsung Moment for the daughter. Same with the first one. Walked in and out in 30 minutes. But I did go during the day not after work when everybody is there looking for one.

Still gonna have to wait and see if the little A4 processor is any good, I definately would not get on a waiting list for unproven hardware.

To the OP, do your buddies know that AT&T dropped their Unlimited Data packages and as new customers will be subject to Pay As You Go thus getting reamed in the poop shoot on a monthly basis to use their iPhone? I'd rather wait a little longer to get an EVO if that means I save a crap ton of money in the long run.

HTC just makes the phone. Sprint is the company that placed the order for so few phones.

Not an apple fanboy, but they do have a long history of producing good quality devices so I highly doubt anyone, but you, is questioning the quality of the A4 chip. I just got done watching the keynote video on Apple's website and honestly if it weren't for AT&T's crappy data plans I would forget trying to get an EVO and get the new iphone instead.
