Coming from lte 4g have a ?.

I love my lte, but I need to have my removable battery. I use my evo literally almost all day, but I end up only being able to keep it unplugged for like 3 hours.
Just curious what other people have missed from their ltes if they made the switch as I'm preparing to make. My wife has an epic 4g, but I've never personally owned a Samsung phone. I've been a die hard HTC fan since my Windows mobile days, except for one exception, the Palm Pre.

Dude, something is seriously wrong with your EVO 4G LTE if you only get 3 hours. I've used mine continuously for games, surfing, and streaming music and get 6 hours. 6 hours is the fastest I've been able to run the battery down in.

I didn't switch...I played with a buddies galaxy s3 for a day or two. Things I didn't like:

Screen wasn't good compared to the evo's ...on its own merrits it was okay...but side by side it was pretty disappointing

Wifi quality sucked ass compared to the Evo...to the tune of 50% worse on the same network under load conditions...this is one are where its been consistently bad for Samsung...radios . Was disappointed to see the trend continue in the new flagship...again

Build quality....the Evo feels better in hand. Totally subjective...but the gs3 feels like a sturdy hunk of plastic....the Evo feels somewhat more substantial...while retaining its svelt waistline

Sense 4. .better than touchwiz...that is all. I'm not a four year old...I don't need all the pretty colors and icons...

My dedicated camera button and kick stand...lumped together for the sake of them both being hardware additions...but I did like them more once I bad to live without them.

Things i liked more about the gs3

Google wallet works...yeah eff you Google

Multitasking...no brainer

This is evo number 2. Battery doesn't last long. If I played a game for 5 minutes (rip tide), I lose 3 percent. Battery didn't last but for 4 or 5 hours while walking around Disney World, and not using at all.

Wow. Something is wrong with the device, it you just have an insane amount of stuff syncing with live wallpaper, sync every dive might ...etc. I'm not accusing...but I've had two of them. The one I'm using currently will go 13 hours without a charge making calls, sending text, browsing, and playing games/streaming Netflix through lunch everyday. Mind u...I manage my phone...have nfc tags to turn off radio a/on wifi at work, etc..but I'm still going a full day without charging...and usually battery to spare when I plug in at the end of my day.

Battery life is extremely sensitive to how you use your phone and the signal environment it's in. Using data and playing games continuously will suck any phone's battery down pretty quick. Getting another phone is not going to change much.
Your options are to carry your charger with you and plug in when you can, get a portable charger, or get a phone with a swappable battery and carry a spare. Not much difference between the second and third option.
The differences between the phones are mostly subjective. However, the old Samsung weak radio issues are starting to bubble up so that's something to consider. If you're used to the EVO and happy with it otherwise, get a portable charger.

Sorry didn't multi quote, saw this after my previous post. The EVO absolutely should not drain like that in pure standby. I've put mine on the nightstand at 99% when I go to sleep and wake up with it still at 99%. Make sure you don't have wifi or bt on constantly polling for signal, and if you're in a low signal area that can drain the battery ad well.

I love the idea that the sgs3 will have a lot of accessories due to being a popular phone so far and being on all major carriers.
I'm not sold completely on the sgs3 until I can actually play with one. I love the fact that the battery is removable on the sgs3 and I could swap them out when I needed to instead of being tethered to an outlet or bringing a battery pack. I love the camera and camcorder on the evo. I'm torn as many others probably are as well.

Well, I'm currently using an Otterbox, but I've been waiting for Trident to release their case. With the way Samsung is pushing this device, I'm sure there will be a huge choice of accessories that will be more widely and easily available.

You are crazy going to Disney world with this heat! LOL

Yes Disney world has the worse signal for sprint customers. Any Sprint phone suffers there as it is constantly looking for signal, hence draining the battery in a couple occasions hours and probably getting really really hot too

You could say the exact same thing about the iPhone

To be fair though, accessory availability (if that's important) could be a swing issue for those on the fence between otherwise evenly matched devices.

I had the iPhone in mind as well when typed that. Samsung send to have a lot of marketing put in to their sgs3s. I walked in to a Best Buy Mobile yesterday, and an employee immediately spotted my evo lte in my holster and asked if I was there to see what I missed out on... I was there to check out the sgs3, but they did not have any out to try. The employees were pushing the galaxy phones like crazy there, and even when an employee got theirs out to compare screens, they could not admit how much better the evo one was. They were pushing the s voice capabilities of it among the other features. They were convinced it smokes the evo and HTC one x phones. I think the determining factor for me might be the replaceable battery. Not sure about development on the phones, but both seem to be off to a great start. I'm going to walk in to a Sprint store in a bit and get a better handle on the differences between the two phones.

So I just walked out of the Sprint store, impressed by the sgs3, but didn't have time to really compare as much as I wanted. The device wasn't even on display yet. My Otterbox defender was on, so testing screens wouldn't have been fair with it in, so I'll believe the reviews. I've made no progress on making my decision. I do have to make it in 24 hours however...
