Comments on pixel 5 from the users

I have had the 5 for almost a week now, coming from a 4XL, and I'm still on the fence. For my usage both have pros and cons. I think my biggest issue is the screen size. I'm having a hard time adjusting to the smaller screen, but in fairness it has gotten easier over the last few days. If the 5 had the same size screen as the 4XL, I'd keep it no question.

I'll put the pixel 5 through the test over the weekend when my case and screen protector come in , for now in the drawer, I'm also keeping my pixel 4xl , I like that phone.

Coming from a Note 10+. Gotta say, I'm really enjoying the smaller form factor on my P5. Kinda nice, not having a brick in my pocket.

Speaker is a bit underwhelming, but not a deal breaker. Battery is phenomenal, as I'm averaging 7-8hrs SOT everyday. I'll probably be selling my N10 on Swappa this weekend.

This phone is amazing, great size, battery, responsiveness, I am really enjoying it...

anyone having issues with photo processing time after you take a pic? i started another thread for it but this thread seems more active. i compared my 4xl to the 5 at best buy and it wasn't shockingly slower but it was definitely noticeable. just wondering what experience everyone is having with the camera post picture processing speed. thanks

It has been mentioned in all the reviews of all the new Pixel phones. It's because these phones don't have the processor that processes photos that the previous Pixels have. I forget the name of the processor. It's no biggie for me as long as the photos look Pixel great.

After taking picture, it's half a second slower

Ya. I'm just wondering in day to day use if it's bothersome. I would assume it's not a big deal but just wondering what others are experiencing.

I think waiting for a second won't hurt especially we know you're going to get a very nice pic after the processing.
Imho, just don't pay much attention on specs alone. I came from pixel 2 and using 4xl, for me when it comes to everyday usage the speed has too little difference
and negligible. battery life just got better and that 90hz. how much more on the pixel 5. no more battery anxiety

I feel like I'd rather wait a half second longer for photos to process (beautify, I'm sure) and have amazing battery life than have top notch specs. :)

I've been using the Pixel 5 for the past four days, having come from an iPhone 11 Pro Max/OnePlus 8 Pro and have a few thoughts:

  • I'd never thought I'd see the day where I would think a 6" screen would feel small. I do appreciate the smaller size of the phone but find it difficult to adapt to the smaller screen size.
  • I miss the facial unlock from both the iPhone and OnePlus. I keep staring at the Pixel 5 screen wondering why it hasn't unlocked. The rear fingerprint reader is pretty fast and accurate but I find placing my finger on the right spot difficult to do consistently. I figure over time, muscle memory will kick in and it won't be a problem anymore.
  • I don't think anyone has to worry about the phone having a 765G processor - using the phone feels silky smooth whatever I do. (I don't game though).
  • The phone gets hot - I do a lot of video calls and I find that the phone gets warm/hot after 15-20 mins of usage. I also find that it tends to heat up randomly when doing non-intensive tasks (i.e. surfing the web etc.)
  • Battery life is a hit and miss. I find that it tends to lose 12-15% overnight!
  • The screen still seems to be dim even at max brightness. It seems better than the Pixel 4 but not by much.
  • The user experience (software) is excellent! I have always preferred a close-to-stock software experience.

My 2 cents!
