Complete Newb (unlimited data question)

Whats interesting isn't whether verizon can find out on your particular phone but that this is discussed on an open forum but somehow we think they don't know it's happening. It won't be long before they create a protection that will stop it for everyone.

They've known about "illegal tethering" since the Droid 1 first was rooted.

I doubt it's going to end at their hand anytime soon.. they can make more money off you by going over your quota.

How much is tethering? $25 bucks extra? that gives you 5gb that you may or may not come close to using..

Lot's of us don't have unlimited data, or have that 2x data deal.. If you use 8GB of data, they've now made $30 dollars off you.. 1GB = $10

There is nothing new about this debate. And im 100% sure they are aware people do this, thats not the debate. The debate is whether or not they can track individuals who abuse it (which i find it hard to believe they cant) or if the percentage of people abusing it is so low that its not worth their time and effort to do so.

This is why AT&T is putting a Cap on their unlimited plans... and in a few years so will VZW because of those people that abuse it and use 10+gb per month.
