Complete Newbie to android - Internet connection issues

Hi all,

I bought a couple of cheap identical chinese tablets for christmas for my young kids, they are running jellybean 4.1.1

Initially connected to the internet fine, no problems.

Now I have issues with both. The internet is apparently connected, I get the wifi icon in the corner showing good signal strength and when I go into settings it actually says that the wireless is connected, however when I try to open the browser or the play store it says there is no connection and I just cant get online at all.

This happening when I connect to both the wifi router and also when I tether to my mobile phones internet connection so i dont reckon its an issue with the router (also my phone and laptop both still connect fine to the router no issues)

I would be grateful if i could get some help in the right direction to try and solve this issue please

Did you happen to sort this out?

What brand are they if you don't mind my asking? - Did you try to forget your wireless network and reconnect? - Is your device being assigned an IP address? - Maybe try statically assigning it an IP address?
