Completely naked Evo users, please read

I have a Launch day EVO and never had a screen protector or case.
although I do keep the phone in a leather belt clip pouch on my waist.

my phone is in mint condition, no scratches, nicks, nothing...

I bought a $3 rubber case on eBay that came with a free screen protector. I like the rubber (gel) case as it keeps the phone from sliding around in my car when I place it on my center console. The cheapo screen protector doesn't look all that great but it has to protect the screen. I am a practical type person and my phone is perfect after 4 months for a cost of $3.

I understand not wanting to use a case all of the time. The phone is big enough as it is.

But what is the hate towards a screen protector? I have a zagg invishield and after the few days the fresh sticky texture wears off and you don't even notice it... seems like a small price to pay to protect a $500 device...

I also use a case on occasion when I know I'm going to be outside and moving around a lot.

because it's not necessary and it obstructs the beauty and the view of the display.

i know it makes you feel better but that's all it does.

You guys are putting a lot of faith in that one scratch test...

Also I don't notice a difference in the display other than the fact that there is a little less glare, which works for me.
I'm not here to tell anyone what is right and wrong.. just curious. That one video isn't enough evidence to make feel comfortable going without a protector.

My phone has been naked since day one, and it looks like new except for some very light scratches on the metal kick stand.

My wife's phone's case broke back in early August. She is very rough with her phones, but it still look great. One little scuff on the corner where she dropped it, but no red showing through.

release day EVO here, had a cheap case from Ebay, but just upgraded to the OtterBox commuter, which is a little bulky, but I keep it in my top pocket....or in my back pocket...screen protector on it...phone has been dropped a few times at a concert, and survived...1 little scratch on lense pre-case because lense sticks out a bit.

Got mine day one. Perfect condition after 5 months. I never use a case on any phone I own. What is the point of having a great looking phone if you are going to turn it into a tank?

My mom did that back in the 70's with our living room furniture (covered it with that plastic that was so popular). After 15 years the furniture looked great when uncovered, but by that time no one cared because the style of furniture was outdated.

My Evo went naked until October 10th. I dropped it and dinged it up pretty bad in two spots. I can see red plastic under the soft material on the back of the phone. My love for its beauty has not been shakin though! I still dont want to cover it up. I spent months looking at the phone in awe of its beauty. Im not gonna cover it up now that I have it in my hands. Besides, the screen is pretty damn sturdy and so is the body. I'll just use my insurance to get another one if it gets too scratched up.

Interesting. Looks like some people don't have problems without a case. I really do feel like leaving it this way. I put the case on for storage in my backpack and when charging, but otherwise, I don't really use it.

I did the screen protector for about 2 months, and then I wanted to try it without. Been without one for about 3 months and I think I'm going back. No scratches, but my phone is always extra finger printed up. I didn't notice it as much when I was using the protector but this is ridiculous. Never have used a case though.

Fully Covered, including Screen

I have never had a case on ANY cell, and only reluctantly used a invisishield on 1 WinMo phone. I keep the phone in my shirt pocket and use a buttoneer to create a sub-pocket that is the right size for the phone, and other things pens, pills, misc items go into the other sub pocket. I did change backs to an clear IcyCell to protect the camera lens.

I feel that the Sprint insurance is all the protection it needs.

Do any of you caseless people have any damage to the camera lens? That is my biggest fear and my use for a case. The glass covering the camera lens is probably the same kind of glass used for the screen? I would prefer to not use a case (so much dust collects under the case), but I do so that when i set my phone down it's not resting on the camera.

Yes! This was one of my questions that I forgot to post.

My camera lens does have a small scratch but only through part of the "8.0 Megapixels" text, so it has no effect on pictures. I got that before the IcyCell Back. IcyCell.com is keeps the lens and metal red ring off of a table when set lens down.

I do not have any scratches on the camera. I used to very careful to prevent the lens from touching any surface (used the kickstand all the time while at work) but now my EVO sits flat on the backside and I have had no issues.

No screen protector - have hated them ever since I used one on my original Treo 650. But I bought a Case-Mate Barely There case as soon as I could get one for 2 reasons - to keep the camera lens off surfaces and because I did not like the way the original back flexed which on my EVO made it "creak" a lot as I used it. Tape inside the back helped a little but once I got used to the solid feel of the ever-so-slightly-bigger-size the Case-Mate adds to the phone, all was fine.

got the otterbox commuter series, left the screen protector off. the only reason i sell screen protectors is to minimize the finger prints and glare from the sun. I do the YouTube screen demonstration at least once a day. You know, scissors, keys, screws and razor blades demo, and no scratches on the screen. I have the otterbox so i can throw it across the room to also demonstrate the OB toughness

I alternate sometimes. But I do have a few scratches on my camera lense and it does not effect my picture quality at all. That's about the only thing I don't like about the Evo OS the camera sticking out.
