Concerns About the G4's Leather Back

This is exactly what I'm hoping for. I want the leather to mark and darken - does anyone know if there's any reason it wouldn't? I wouldn't be happy if after 6 months it still had the same "off the shelf" brown colour.

People who are "into" leather products sometimes use oils and sunlight to darken them. Any reason this wouldn't work with the G4?

I've heard of people doing this to their Moto leather backs, so I'm pretty sure it'll work the same way. In fact, it's a good idea to protect it to keep it from getting the "pocket rub" everyone keeps talking about.

If you're going to get the leather and put a case, it doesn't make any sense.

I get it not everyone is comfortable using their device without a case which is too bad. I only use one when I'm at work but I got over it after hTc's One M7 and thought to myself how many times/when was the last time I dropped my phone?

Completely agree. I don't buy cases that will allow me to drop my device. I buy cases with a function (IE: I have a wallet case on my phone right now) and to avoid scratches. There won't be any reason for me to put a case on this thing.

Anyone wanna guess if LG is actually going to be selling replacement backs? It might be a good idea for them, financially, but they might not do it seeing as how the back buttons are color-coded as well. If they sell a full backplate assembly with a backplate, back buttons, and maybe a little screwdriver for the back buttons, it might be more likely.

I don't know, what do you all think?

Heh. I drop my phone about twice a week it seems, but I still want the leather. Hopefully, there week be a nice bumper that elevates the screen a bit in the event of a face down drop.

Changing the back buttons?!? Come on now. That isn't an issue!

i wont get the leather backing. ill go with the dark plastic one for now although i do not like the looks of it. that gem style look is fugly to me. hopefully 3rd party backs will come with a more brushed metal look like the g3 had.
