Since they decided to allow sideloading on the HTC Aria with a update fix hopefully they will stay with this pattern..
Apparently that was a mistake in the release notes, and they didn't really enable it.
However sideloading via a computer is possible anyway. I had a backflip for a while and even built my own app and was able to install it.
If any of these get rooted, it also won't be a problem.
They did actually enable it, but it was a mistake in their release. Those who were able to get the version of HTC Sync before it was pulled are able to do side-loading. I was too late but found it on a mirror and installed it, works great.
I'm new to android but is it true that you can install an app on any phone using the SDK and the command line? I tested it on the Aria but i'm not sure if it just worked on this phone
I realize this forum hasn't been active in a while, but I wonder... did you ever make that video or instructions? (I am a total newbie and have an Aria with AT&T - triple slam with restrictions from HTC, ATT and Google!!)Yes, you can sideload apps through ADB Shell in the Android SDK. Maybe I'll make a video tutorial for it.
