Seriously though, why is Verizon so stubborn when it comes to giving release dates?

How can it hurt?

How is it not a good marketing strategy?

Because all sales before then will halt.

They wanna make money 24/7. Not just the day a phone hits.

I mean its been out for 4 months now...

Three months, actually. It was announced and started shipping in early January.

So, the DM for verizon jsut came into my store(Im an indirect agent). I started talking with him about different new devices that are coming out. He informed me that he just got a information about a new HTC device running android.

He went on to say that he gets these notices anywhere from a a day to 2 weeks in advance of the release. He didnt have the model "name", but was going to email the model number later. I will post it when I get it to see what it might be, with your help.

So, I got an email reply, but at the bottom was verizon's disclaimer about releasing information in the email. So I dont feel comfortable releasing the info that was given to me, unless someone wants to pay me my salary if I get fired.... I know it is a long shot of it happening, but its not worth the risk.


I did however get a text message that says LG is making a droid device for Vzw. It should be out sometime in Q2-midQ3.

Providing the exact date of a phone release is not the same thing as announcing the date of an OS preview (aka slideshow).

That's weak.......You could have just come out and said "I have a strong feeling that the ______ is coming out soon"

not the point - this slideshow is going to show features of the new os which will def match and most likely surpass the features on N1 (ie video chat), then apple will give a release date for the os....which people can actually rely on, which will in the end draw people away from android. whereas if they release the phone today - there are countless number of people waiting to come on board without even waiting to hear what apple has to say.

If you're arguing from that position, then it's already too late for the Nexus One as Apple has already announced a date for the official announcement of a date

The people who would buy the phone today without waiting for what Apple has to say still have the option of returning it once Apple has made the announcement. Conversely, Apple's OS 4 preview could be a disappointment (e.g. no multi-tasking), and the raging geeks could all buy Nexus Ones in protest. Anything's possible until facts are known

haha very true - im just dyin for n1 on verizon...i had 2 friends over my house this past weekend, one had n1 on at&t and one had 3gs on at&t....both were grabbing 3g, and it was night and day when loading pages (n1 was just smoking the iphone). now if the n1 was on verizon it would be even more of a landslide

ok, here is what I would have to say, I am glad that the celebrite machine was updated recently so that it is easy to transfer numbers. I used that post to figure things out, the numbers match.

Also, if I wouldnt have got the info from my DM I would have bought the moto droid as my BB tour took a major dump after updating to 5.0. So Now I will wait for what I was told could be a day(from yesterday) to 2 weeks. Which sucks since Im back to square one after redownloading everything on my tour, twice.

Would a Verizon employee even be aware as to when the N1 would drop? I mean if it goes by the model that Google is selling, "marketing", and "customer service-ing" the N1 then Verizon doesnt really need to be in the know...do they?

Why should Verizon store customer service care about N1? They can't sell it in their store anyway. I think N1 is ready to be available on Verizonwireless long time ago but I really believe that Verizon isn't allowing them to sell it yet, until Incredible is ready.
