Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

who here would be willing till June if we got an upgraded nexus. I have seen reports that the nexus 2 will hit verizon in June. I am not saying this is true, but I would be willing to wait.

I am ahppy enough to wait with my Eris until June..... I would love a preorder possibility so I could go ahead and pay for the phone and then like I have said in previous posts, just wait for it to come out and get delivered. I hate that I have 600 dollars just sitting burning a hole in my pocket. If the Google Tablet comes out before the Nexus One, I really could see me blowing my money on that instead of a new phone...

I really just want an explanation for the delay. I feel like they owe us at least that much.

Don't bash me. But why do they owe us an explanation? The only official word has been that it will come out in Spring. Which is here, yes, but it's not Summer yet. So technically they haven't missed their deadline yet.

Don't get me wrong. I would love to hear something from them also, since I've been eagerly waiting for it also. But I honestly don't think they "owe" us anything... yet.

^exactly. What delay? Like I said in my earlier post, its only the middle of spring. We still have a whole nother half to wait boys. (well actually not me cuz I'm on t-mobile and already have it hah but I do want to see what the rumored "surprise" is)

I can see both sides if the argument, when we were in January and the said Spring 2010 that was completely acceptable. Now that we are smack in the middle of Spring, they should be able to narrow down the launch date to a month and possibly week.

I think they owe us an explanation for the "delay" because in tech, timing is everything. I understand that they are still well within their window for spring, but when the phone is pushed as hard as this one is (and it's everywhere I visit online), as well as being released for carriers not even on their list (Rogers in Canada, that one French company, AT&T), but can't be released with the one carrier everyone actually wants to have. I'm upset because of the lack of communication between the developers and me. I'm ok with waiting if I know that they're working on something and pouring themselves into it, but when all we get is a wall of silence, it makes it seem like they don't care at all, which makes me not care.

Why an explanation as to the "delay"? Because I want it and can't have it on Verizon yet, but other networks not even announced can get it whenever they want. Just tell us whats going on and pacify us.

And as for the argument that all they said was "Spring", so we're still well within that timeframe, all I have to say is when you go grocery shopping, you don't want to run up your bill until you have $0.01 left in your account, you want to leave some room there. Same thing applies here, while they do have until the end of spring to hit their timeline I think they are going to lose a lot of people very soon if they don't move it.

And one more morsel; What happens to all of you "Spring 2010'ers" when they blow that deadline too? Is your support still going to be as adamant as it is now?

They said "Spring 2010"

When does Spring officially end?

Probably the day RIGHT BEFORE that.

Well, part of the reason for the staggered release was the fact that they had to make a totally different version of the phone for CDMA networks (requiring a different fabbing process for the device), test that, make any fixes, manufacture a sufficient number of them, and then send it out. That makes the 4 month delay between versions all the more reasonable.

I think Google better come out with it on/before the VZW INC or it's all over for them and a VZW N1. As I keep saying over and over, whichever comes out first, people are going to jump on like flies on sh!t. Google would be SO smart to release it soon, but doesn't look like it anytime soon.
Yes, 'Spring 2010' isn't over yet, but if they think their sales have slumped already, just wait when the VZW one hits. Sure there will be sales, but nothing like it could've been if released already or before the INC. Guaranteed, period. It's a simple fact!

This is true however the T-Mob and AT&T versions were released about a month or less after passing FCC...the CDMA version passed FCC in the end of February. So either they are having an issue after testing or Verzion is holding it up...either way, although not obligated to, keeping people in the loop at least keeps the buzz going where people don't drop off and buy other phones. If nothing comes from the source a lot of people get tired of waiting and buy different phones. I do understand that they said Spring 2010 so even though I get frustrated, they owe us no explanation till Summer 2010.

I am just waiting for the N1 or Incredible. I have BB Tour now and want to try out the touch screen and see how that goes.
I am getting jealous of all the cool UIs that you coming out.

im sure google is aware they are losing sales as time passes, but its not really a win lose situation for them. either way, they're getting their platform out whether its with the inc or n1. that being said, im sure they would prefer it be done with the n1 first because they are selling it directly.
people are not necessarily going to jump on the inc if it comes out first, though. they are different phones serving different needs. but i do recognize the inc will sell 10000X more than the n1, but because of how vzw will push it. n1 gets little advertising besides web banners, but thats nothing compared to what vz is going to do with the inc.
as far as im concerned there is no holdup for the phone, its only the middle of spring.
and my support will be as adamant as it is now all the way up until the very last day of spring. but if the first day of summer rolls around and no vz n1, me along with many other people will be wondering to say the least. but i highly doubt google will blow this deadline they put out themselves.

It was two months after passing the FCC. That would put the CDMA N1 at a 4/23-ish release.

which coincidentally happens to be right about when the Incredible is supposed to be available online (April 24th)

if they (vzw & google)are smart they'll release both phones at the same time - that way no one has the advantage of being available before the other -(how many people have said whichever comes first - that's what I'll buy)

What will all these people do if the N1 and the Incredible both drop on the 24th?

I will still get the N1

just speculation, but what if they will come out on the same day, but verizon's version will be a Google branded Incredible. That way they are getting rid of the trackball and updating the hardware. if both of these phones come out at about the same time, i will get neither and stick with Blackberry. If just one comes out and it is the best phone between HTC and Google together I will get one.
