Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

N1 coming sooner than I thought. My expectation is that Verizon would get the N1 before Vodaphone.

phandroid.com/2010/04/22/vodafone-uk-to-get-nexus-one-before-end-of-april/

I assumed they would be available around the same time. Does anyone know if Vodafone and Verizon have the same CDMA bands?

Vodafone in the UK is GSM. And, just to add to the discussion, Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Vodafone and Verizon (the landline, non-Wireless company). I think Verizon owns 51% and Vodafone 49%.

I stand corrected. I wonder why Vodafone didn't get their N1 when the AT&T and other GSM N1s were released. Different frequencies or does it have something to do with Vodafone subsidizing?

My plan is I am planning on waiting a little after the incredible comes out to see what happens with the nexus one. I am hoping that they are redesigning the N1 and it is going to blow the INC out of the water. My hopes. I have heard ppl speculate that the reason there is nothing being heard about the N1 is because verizon was saying how they wanted to advertise the INC first and wait till that was out before they allowed google to release the N1.

I want to believe they're improving it, too...but it's unlikely. As Google's own "flagship" phone, they would cannibalize their own intents with the N1 by selling two different versions of it. Unless they do some kind of MASSIVE recall program, I'm guessing it's going to be the same hardware. I'll wait until it's actually revealed before deciding on it vs the Incredible.

The Incredible is not uni-body and therefore will not be as sturdy as an N1. Also I've read that the Incredible is SUPER plasticy. I'm just hoping that the N1 gets a number of it's issues cleared up in the CDMA version. Between improvements like a better touch screen, more accurate buttons along the buttom edge of the screen, and a serving of some fresh and tasty Froyo... the Incredible won't look so Incredible.

Show me legitimate reviews where it's said the phone is "SUPER plasticy". Hell even Phil says it feels very solid and not cheap.

And the Incredible already has a better touch screen and more accurate buttons according to every review I've read, including Phil's. You're basing your opinion of the Nexus off what you WANT it to have when it finally hits Verizon.....I'm not saying it will happen, but for all we know it will be the exact same phone as on TMobile and AT&T just with different radio guts.

Yes I think we are looking at a money issue...or at least marketing. Vodaphone was rumored to come out mid to late April...and unless it happens this week, both VZW and Vodaphone missed their widespread rumored release dates. But I don see the advantage unless there is a big hardware change to wait till I/O to release the hardware. My understanding is that I/O would be more software based conference. But I guess if they have a huge software release and show it on the N1 it could get people to purchase the N1...who knows anymore!

The Incredible also has worse battery life than the Nexus. Watch this video to see. YouTube - Review: HTC Proves Credible About 'Incredible'

And the Incredible does feel sort of cheap compared to the Droid and Nexus. Still a solid phone yes.

Sorry but when known reviewers are raving about the phone, I'm not really seeing comments like this holding alot of water. Especially from guys that are VZW N1 holdouts. Hey dont get me wrong, it's irritating as hell that nobody is coming forth with info, but still. I haven't seen one solid reviewer say the phone feels cheap or SUPER plasticky. It only comes from guys that haven't even seen the phone much less held it.

The SUPER plasticky comment was from AndyAndroid. Where did you play with the Incredible? I'd like to see one.
And weight to me doesn't make a phone feel solid. I don't care for the Droid at all. The Nexus isn't a bad phone to hold, just dont like the look as much.

It's not the weight, but what it's built from. The Incredible is made out of some sort of plastic. The Droid is made of metal and the Nexus is built from aluminum.

And I played with one at a Verizon store.

And I prefer the Droid's and Nexus's look and feel to the Incredible's. The Incredible is a good high end Android phone but its build is a turnoff to me.

That's cool you got to play with one at a Verizon store. I'm actually at one now that's down the street from my home, and they tell me no stores will have the phone till the 29th when it's released....bummer.

Ya I know a agree too but I would like to think that. Or at least I would like to think they would at least fix the screen and stuff relating to touch issues. I wish they put a super AMOLED screen in but they wont. I agree that if they were to do a redesign of the phone it would really hurt them, unless they did something like apple did a few years ago. Where if you had the last generation iphone you could turn it in and upgrade for a reduced price. I don't see that as out of reach for google to do. Just wish we had some news to start speculating about. I can't sit here in silenece

My android Google alert had a link reporting that nexus one on VZW could b released next month and running 2.2

May 19th would be fine. That still gives us a few weeks with the Incredible and the ability to return it if the N1 turns out to be better. That article mentions OZCAR though, which hasn't been reliable with any of their previous info on the Verizon N1, so I'll believe it when I see it. In the mean time, at least I'll have my Incredible in hand.

Best link yet in the last couple weeks that may actually be true. But IF it doesn't drop then, it's over on VZW!

Sure it might be the best link in a few weeks but it doesn't mean its accurate. The only reason I say this is because they are citing OZCAR which is a terrible website for information. OZCAR always just writes that any rumor is true and they write on pure speculation. I will agree tho that it seems very likely that the Google's IO conference that they will debut the N1. And I assume it will have 2.2 Froyo.

My only hopes are that they release it sooner so I can make a choice by the end of the month of what phone I will be buying.

I hope they fix the issues of the screen and buttons and update the phone with new hardware so that it becomes the most up-to-date phone otherwise with the specs and everything in it...it's going to be outdated soon

Is it a third party store or a regular corp? Don't believe everything a rep tells you. Some stores have it. The one I played with belonged to a rep there.

It was a stand-alone store here in Houston....No incredibiles in store until the 29th. (except of course the ones that were shipped early to end-users?)

We'll be going to a different Verizon store today. My wife and I want to grab a couple accessories if we can, before the phones arrive at our local Best Buy this Thursday. I'll check there for a demo of course.
