Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

I will still get the N1 and I am sure most others will do the same, as long as it comes out...

Not according to what was leaked today. The Incredible has an 8 mp camera, as well as 8 gigs of onboard storage. (plus the microSD slot)

ALMOST identical.

So minus 3 more MP...........

Is that on-board? or is that micro SDHC?

i apologize if this has been posted already..

On-board. And the microSD slot is expandable to 32 GB. So you could have a 24 GB Incredible now or a 40 GB Incredible when the 32 GB cards come out.

My n97 has 32 gigs on board (with a sdhc slot), and even though you can install programs to it - its got like 28 gigs free (with several albums on it too). I wouldn't chose storage ram as the one thing you buy it for.

Well, when you have two phones that are near identical (N1 and Incredible), you look at things like storage as the differentiator.

i just drove by my verizon store and there were at least 15 employees sitting in a circle with one guy in the center presenting something. Any idea what this could be about?

Lets see what price has to do with it.

Also the track-ball (or lack of one) could be a big reason to go with the Incredible?

What's so wrong with the trackball? Since it's a touchscreen, I don't really see that there would be a difference between a trackball and a trackpad since you rarely use either. I'm not going to say that that would be the reason I chose one phone or the other. If the VZW N1 came out with a faster processor or some kind of special software, then I'd definitely get it. Just based on the design and such (trackball included), I would rather take the N1.

I'm also banking on the 'surprise' the N1 comes with being something worth waiting for - like perhaps the addition of being a wifi hotspot (like the Pre/Pixie Plus)

First one out gets the cash

First one that is orderable (on-line or in-store) gets my cash. Price is not a factor. I've been waiting for the N1 since February, but now I just want the speed and power. There is not enough of a difference between the two to really make me hold out for either.

First one available...I'm all in.

The only real downside for the trackball that I can think of is it can discolor over time. That being said, I like the idea of the notification light being at the top of the phone, not on the trackball itself.

I'm actually leaning that way too. Seeing as how I would have probably gotten a case/cover for the N1, I would do the same with the INC, thus covering up the only negative I see with the phone, the back. I would like the Google aspect of the N1, but I just need a new phone already.

Whats wrong with a trackball?

You've never owned a blackberry before I guess. Or a mouse that wasn't optical.

Gunk (I.E. your dead skin bits) gets into it and can muck up the senors and make it un-usable, requiring you to remove it and clean it.

And if its a tale of a blackberry: Them just falling out.

i know i'm kicking myself in the butt for not but i had to be somewhere. i drove back buy about 30 min later and they were open and the meeting was over.

Breaking News!

I've just received word from top level management as to why the Nexus One for Verizon Wireless has not been released yet. Below is a condensed version of what happened...

VZW: We want to sell the Nexus One in our stores.
Google: No.
VZW: Why?
Google: We're changing the way cell phones are sold. We're going to make them more difficult to purchase, the purchase process is going to be more confusing, and make it so customers can't play with the phone before purchasing it.
VZW: That's dumb.
Google: Deal with it. We're Google. We do what we want to.
VZW: Ok. Then we're not activating any N1's on our network until after the Incredible ships.
Google: What??
VZW: Deal with it. We're VZW. We do what we want to.
Google: You suck.
VZW: Bite me.

There you have it folks. Looks like no Nexus One until after the Incredible ships.

;)
