Confrimed AT&T Gingerbread Update for HTC Inspire 4G

I have a question. Does anyone know what will happen to all our settings and such when this OTA happens? Like, all my icons I have on the homescreens and the order they are in. Will we have to let all our apps reinstall? Is it basically like changing to a new ROM?

I don't think so. Everything should stay the same. It should be just like the HSUPA update we had in April. However, just remember what you have on your homescreens before applying the update, just to be safe.

What I meant is that when I turn on pattern lock for example, I still have to swipe down the sense screen lock before I get the Android pattern lock. I would rather not have to swipe the sense screen lock first when I have a pattern lock in place. If someone knows how to achieve that with Sense 2.0, could you please PM me? Thanks.

Coming week. Hope that means next week. :D thank you ATT.

It later says the following, "In August, HTC Inspire 4G users will be notified that the update is available and can be downloaded when connected to a Wi-Fi network."

After speaking with an ASR tech today, when Gingerbread drops to the inspire (in August) the unknown sources is to be packed in with it, so the people who have had trouble getting it installed (I just got it today) should be good to go when the update comes out. Its not a 100% guarantee because it is up to HTC and not AT&T as far as that goes.

The unknown sources option is part the Android OS including 2.3.5 and should not be up to HTC or ATT unless ATT decided to block it AGAIN. I hope this is not some kind of official line that ATT has been telling customers.

For anyone that doesn't know, it leaked out. I am running it now and its very smooth. You can find it on xda.

Is root required to run the leak? Based on experience with BB leaks, I am betting it goes official very soon.

which version they giving us? 2.3.3 or 2.3.4?

That's what I'm wondering. The leaked version that sayin is referring to above is only 2.3.3. The most recent release is 2.3.5. 2.3.4 has some bug fixes mostly associated with other phones, but also full video/voice chat on gtalk (the video is only for phones with front-facing cam).

Version 2.3.5 fixes some signal reception issues, a secure NFC wallet, and NI push support which I believe is designed to make life easier for devs.

There is a ruu that doesn't require root. And if you are rooted I actually rooted this leak and I can post a link if you like. It's flashable via cwm recovery.

I think were only getting 2.3.3 but I'm fine with that.
