1. Accounting software consultant
2. Every chance I get. usually multiple times per day. AC is the first place I check anytime I open the internet on my laptop or phone. Thanks to all the users who have provided guidance/info to everyone.
3. So many pro's on this phone compared to my old blackberry. The Web, all my contact and calender info moved to Google which means I do not have to connect a cable to my computer to update!!, Google Nav has allowed me to leave my old GPS at home when I travel for work and the App Market.

I'm reading each and every one of these and you guys are doing a GREAT job so far! It's a lot of fun reading your responses and hearing each of your perspectives. Keep them coming!

1. Your profession and industry (student, sales, retail, software, etc).
I'm a control systems engineer in the oil, gas, and petrochem industries
2. How often you visit Android Central and what you like best about it.
I visit about everyday to see what new apps are out and to see when 2.1 will be release.
3. How your Droid has made your days more productive and fun.
I finally have a phone that combines the best things from the old palm days with a phone on a decent network. I love using my phone in my building while my iphone buddies don't get a signal.

- Test engineer
- Several times a day
- It's a worthy replacement for my Palm OS Treo. With suitable apps I can have my calendar, tasks and other info close at hand, all on a single device.

Great thread. Cory you are the man for giving this away.

1. I work for a small business, I'm an independent lighting designer - not a lighting rep

2. I probably visit too much...I'm on it everyday and check the forums nearly every 15 minutes...I also follow the site's RSS. What I love about the site is the forums - I've been in and out of a LOT of forums in the past and this is one of the most helpful and friendliest. I never seen n00bs get flamed for 'stupid' or ' basic' questions. Thank you Admins!!

3. Being small business our roles are very spread out; we're each a designer, administrator, IT, and face of the company. The droid has helped soooo much in that regard, it's always in my hand whether I'm using it as a simple calculator, emailing someone, or calling on a project. Thankfully it has matched (and imho, surpassed...) my boss' iPhone! ^_^

  1. Your profession and industry (student, sales, retail, software, etc).

I was a truck driver for 10 years before hurting my knee, I am currently waiting another surgery to fix it before I get to find a new career, I do currently plow in the winter and will be trying to re-start my small Auto detailing business this spring I once had.

  2. How often you visit Android Central and what you like best about it.

I visit a couple times a day and 5-6 days a week, depending on if I am out plowing long (hard to drive and surf) I find it the most friendly and informational forum I have visited. It is very easy to keep up to date with anything new going on. I enjoy reading things here and it is nice not to have to search posts for a way to make my phone properly work like I did with my BB

  3. How your Droid has made your days more productive and fun.

Keeps me in touch with my customers through email and text and gets me in touch with new customers through email and phone. Coming from a BB Storm (my first smartphone) this phone is like a breath of fresh air! I actually use the phone for more then just email and phone. I can use weather apps without it draining my battery in 2 hours like my prior phone, I play a few games without having a memory leak and slowing my phone down to a crawl.

1) I am in the Fire Protection Engineering industry, while also taking classes (time split between a student and a professional, you could say).

2) I visit AC every day, sometimes more than once a day if I have classes. I like the friendly environment, the not-too-involved moderators (especially with the banhammer), and the promptness/accuracy of responses. There is a good community here that supports other's answers and opinions, instead of wanting the spotlight.

3) Jeez, where do I start? I will keep this short, as to not prattle on so much, but this droid has made my life so much easier. From a good phone synced with gmail (my primary email), to an internet browser for immediate information and entertainment, to apps. All of this come in handy whether in work or school. I can convert units easily, look up codes, kill time, and even measure small distances. I love this phone.

1. Your profession and industry (student, sales, retail, software, etc).

I am a high school English teacher in rural Northern Illinois.

2. How often you visit Android Central and what you like best about it.

I visit Android Central far too much and love best finding out that I'm not the only loser who cares way too much about my phone.

3. How your Droid has made your days more productive and fun.

The Droid has definitely made me less productive of a person. If I cared half as much about anything as much as I care about the organization of my home screens, I would be a much more effective member of society.

I have one (1) Ultraslim Sena Motorola Droid case to give to a lucky forum member.

The Ultraslim case is free of clips, clasps, and buckles. It?s made of high quality leather and fits the Droid perfectly without adding too much weight or thickness. The inside is lined with soft suede like material, and the stitching is of the highest quality. This case also includes a soft carrying bag that doubles as a cleaning cloth.

I will select one random post on Sunday February 21st that best descibes the following:

  1. Your profession and industry (student, sales, retail, software, etc).

  2. How often you visit Android Central and what you like best about it.

  3. How your Droid has made your days more productive and fun.

Good luck!

Cory

1). I am currently an E-5 (for those non military folks, that's a Sgt.) on Active Duty in the U.S. Army. Currently working AGR with a Reserve Unit in Upstate, NY. Again, for those who are not up to par on their military terms, that basically means I am a full-time soldier working at a part-time (reserve) unit. Essentially, while the rest of the guys only come in one weekend a month, I'm there Monday-Friday, plus the Drill weekends. I've been in since 2006, and been deployed to Iraq once, and most likely going to Afghanistan this summer.

2) I try to visit AC at least once a day, but more than likely I am on twice a day. A good majority of my posts come from my Droid, unless I am home and on my own computer. I love Android Central for it's close-knit feel. Everyone is very friendly to each other, and there is a lot of willingness here to help out those who are having issues, have questions, or need a second opinion. I don't think I've seen a single thread go ignored, and that says a lot about the community.

3) Coming from a BlackBerry Storm 9530, Android and the Droid felt like a jump into the 21st century. My Droid simply works. I don't have to worry about random freezes, very rarely have force close issues, and it just blazes along. My Droid is basically my computer away from my computer, AND it's a phone! I browse Android Central, have my Gmail seemingly integrated, and can show co-workers or friends just about anything I need to show them when internet access isn't available. I've never been this satisfied with a Smartphone in my life, and I've been through my share of Smartphones. I can check movie times, buy movie tickets, check product reviews, and stay connected to GTalk, AIM, and MSN. I look back and wonder how I survived without Smartphones, especially my Droid!

1. PhD student
2. I have the rss coming straight to my home screen via slidescreenhome, so I never miss a post. I visit the site when I want to see how positive everyone is feeling that the 2.1 OTA will happen in the next 8 hours.
3. this was the phone that finally broke my resistance to smart phones and I've been sold ever since. Now that I can respond to e-mail anytime, I have the reputation for being super on-the-ball with group work!

I don't really use my droid on my main job. I use it for reading emails from craigslist and ebay. Also use google voice as my sales/help line number so I don't have to give out my real number and can block anyone that's annoying.
