Connect PS3 Controller via OTG Cable

[Android Central Question]

I'm having trouble connecting my ps3 controller to the phone owth an otg cable. The cable works with a USB drive and my Xbox 360 controller but the phone never recognizes the ps3 one. My phone is not rooted and I don't want it to be. I've seen YouTube videos of people doing this without root on other androids. Can the g5 plus just not handle it?
