Connecting to PC

[Android Central Question]

So yesterday I was watching videos on my computer and the device notification kept popping up and making a sound for my phone and I somehow turned it off by clicking something. Now today I need to get some stuff onto my phone using the PC and whenever I plug the usb cable in I cannot get it to show up on my PC!! What did I do and how do I fix this! I have a galaxy s7, using windows 10

When you connect the phone via USB to the computer, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon. Is it set to MTP/File Transfer?

Yes my device was connected and the pop up that literally shows up everytime i plug my phone in showed up like Galaxy S7 blahblah connect and I somehow turned it off because the sound was annoying me everytime i plugged and unplugged my wire. I tried updating the usb driver that didnt do anything. and when i swipe down the notification panel i dont have a usb icon. it just says that its charging

On your PC, go to Settings>Devices>USB​, and see if you can change the default action when you connect.
