Hey there,

I have a Pixel 3 still within the return window, and I'm considering jumping ship for a OnePlus 6t.

There is a similar thread in that forum from the opposite perspective, but was wondering if anyone left a 6t for a Pixel 3 or has used both devices.

I can honestly say I'm a bit underwhelmed by the 3 and the only thing I really like about the phone is the camera of course.

I like the idea of more storage on the 6t (I only have the 64gb Pixel) and saving $350+

Thoughts?

I have the pixel 3 xl and 1+6 not the T but basically same phone .. what would u like to know?

I guess does the extra 350 warrant the camera difference? Because basically every other spec goes to the 6t...

That 350.00 extra for the pixel your getting better screen,audio,ip68 rating, features exclusive to pixel .
Camera is really good on the 1+6 but you wont get that great shot without trying and up to now Google cameras are the best in the business . There are other benefits in the 1+6 favor but it's your decision.

Edit: forgot wireless charging if u like that

Warrant the camera difference? YES ABSOLUTELY!

The camera is indeed the biggest difference that you will notice if you are taking photos. Google has the tech and AI that it puts in Pixel that makes it special.

I recently sold my 6T and have been using a Pixel 3XL for the past month or so. To me the Pixel is a much better phone, and I LOVED the 6T. The camera is much better and if you use the selfie cam a lot, the zoom out feature is great.

Haptic feedback and vibration is much better on the Pixel.

Fingerprint sensor is much better on the Pixel. It is much quicker and gets my print on the 1st try every time. The sensor on the 6T is much more finicky and really you can only use the official OP screen protector for it to work well. I've tried a few protectors, the OP is the only one that really doesn't interfere much. Also re: the fingerprint sensor, if you are in a dark room it gets very bright since it uses bright light to scan your finger.

Do you listen to music or watch media? Say goodbye to stereo speakers if you switch to the 6T.

Prompt monthly security updates aren't as quick as the Pixel obviously, if that's important to you.

The Pixel has "always on display" enabled at all times. I really missed this on the 6T, which does not have true AOD. It turns off after a few seconds.

Wireless charging isn't "fast" on the Pixel unless you use the Pixel Stand. If this is incorrect my bad, that's been my impression.

That said, there are several things the 6T does better than the Pixel. Battery life completely sucks on the Pixel compared to the 6T.

OxygenOS is just as quick as "stock" on the Pixel. Sometimes smoother. I love the customization and system wide dark theme.

The hardware notification toggle on the 6T (silence, vibrate, enable all sound) is so awesome to have.

The dash charger is unrivaled. You have to see it to believe it. It's insane.

True dual sim capability on the 6T is very handy.

The notch is far less intrusive on the 6T. Not only that, you can disable the notch and still have notifications and such above the screen in the black area.

I have not had to contact OP customer support, but in the past Google CS has been great. If that matters to you.

Both phones are true winners, you can't go wrong with either one. Sorry if this post makes your decision more difficult.

How important are photos for you? If they aren't high on the list then save some money w/ the One Plus. If you value photos then the Pixel 3 would be the absolute best thing in your pocket (for a smartphone of course) :).

Yeah I think I'll be jumping ship to the Galaxy S10+.

I too have been disappointed with the Pixel. The only really good thing about it is the camera. Other than that, the software has been buggy, nonsensical navigation UI which seems to be getting worse in Q, limited ram means a lot of app reloads, mediocre battery life, very dim screen etc.

Just not that happy with it. It's barely an update on the Pixel 2 and with the new One UI by Samsung has been getting very positive reviews. Will have to see how good the camera on the S10 is, but having optical zoom and wide angle lense sounds great.

I just sold my Pixel for the same reasons. Mainly, the dim screen in sunlight. What the hell Google? I was drawn in by the "fast updates" and early access to the latest version of Android. Pie has been meh at best and battery life just so so. I enjoyed the phone's snappy speeds, but I feel like other OEMs have caught up to them.

I wouldn't.... Don't trust the 6t camera.

Depends on what's important to you. IMO, 1+ makes a great all around "Android" phone. I think it represents what most people expect Android to be.

With that in mind, Pixels fit best if 1) you're a heavy Google services user or 2) the camera is the most important thing for you as a consumer because it can't be beat or 3) updates are high on your list. If neither of those apply to you... jump ship.

So...

Being inside the return window with my Pixel 3, i decided to order a 6t...and will be returning the Pixel.

I figure there's no better way to decide than to test it out first hand.

Since the 6t has a 15-day return window, I can at least try it out for 2 weeks and see which one I like better, and can always reorder a Pixel, but with 128gb this time, if it gets to that.

Price is the key. If you want to save $$ and still have a great device switch to the 6t. If price isn't the concern, then I'd stick with the pixel 3 until something else you really like is released.

I had both and I thought I was going to love the 6t with the amazing battery life. I actually went back to the pixel 3 xl. I started to miss the screen calling, wireless charging at work, the fantastic camera.

The true test was when we took the family to Disneyland. My photos on the 6t was so disappointing especially the night shots. Luckily, we had the regular pixel 3 to take photos and pixel 3 just blew the 6t out the water. I know it's hard to believe for some people but Google has some magic going on in their cameras.

Had the pixel and loved it but found reasons to return it in order to get another phone. Got the 6t. Great phone but couple things I didn't like we're the fingerprint sensor wasn't as fast. Speaker was low and the vibration motor is junk. But the software was excellent. Camera was nice but pixel is better.

Ended up getting the note 9. After 3 months now I'm over it. I don't like the new update with OneUi. So I ordered a new pixel 3xl. See how it goes the second go around once it arrives.
