I researched watches for a couple of months for my first one this fall and decided to get the Gear S2. (Let me preface this ramble by saying I really love my Samsung Note 4). I had it for 8 days and really wanted to love it. I very seldom return things (this was a birthday gift), but I really just did not like this watch and was very disappointed. The face for me was just way too small - most everything on it was hard to see for me. I missed several phone call notifications and a couple of email notifications - they would come through randomly so it was not the set up. The stock weather app (that is all that is available) refused to update - common complaint. The rotating bezel was fun but became very annoying when I knew I was going to have to crank the thing for several seconds to navigate. The bezel became somewhat loose and sloppy after several days which has been reported by others and I wonder just how many will last for a long time - small moving parts love to break. The app selection for Tizen is an abomination - there are none. This is coming from somewhom who knew nothing about smartwatches - I was shocked at the lack of meaningful, useful apps. No note taking, no lists for the watch, no calculator, no calendar. The final straw for me was just how bad S Voice on the watch is. I use it on my phone occasionally but on the watch it is a disaster. I couldn't get it to respond over 75% of the time.
So, I looked into the 46mm Moto (2015) and bought one at Best Buy which was very easy for returning the Gear S2. My experience with the 360 has been the exact opposite of the complaining in the first paragraph. I really love this watch. The build quality of mine is very nice - stock silver case and bezel with brown band. I really like Android Wear - it is much nicer in my opinion than Tizen. The meaningful app selection is not even in the same universe. AW has great apps for the watch like reminders, Keep, Maps, Audio recorder, Multicalculator, Timetable, Wear Mini Launcher, Aeris weather (tons of great weather apps). Google's voice prompts are very good and accurate for me - never thought I would but I actually started to use them more and more. I have not missed any notifications except for one phone call - not sure why that didn't come through.
The charging dock with night stand clock function is great. My favorite feature so far has been Pujie Black watch face app which allows you to download watch faces online or build your own in just about any way you can think of. I make display info large so I can see it. You can add mini-laucher short cuts to the watch face and customize them. To my knowlegde this cannot occur on the Gear S2 at this time.
Not sure about the Fitness info as I have not used it much but there are apps like Nudge Me for AW. It definely keeps step count and sends notifications frequently from Moto Body. For me notifications are way more intuitive on AW than on the Gear S2.
I don't know anything about the Band 2. For the price I know many people are getting the Moto 360 1st gen while they are still available.
Long ramble - Good luck on deciding.
