I am close to buying this tablet. However, it looks like it runs 4.4.2. I need access to the SD card and I understand that 4.4.2 does not allow it, but has been fixed in later versions. What is the latest official version of Kitkat on the device? If not over 4.4.2, is it easy to root to get around this issue? Thanks.

4.4.2 is the latest version and I am willing to bet you $50 US that it will never be updated to a later version. However, you do have access to the SD card. You can transfer most any of your data files to the External card using the stock file app. I also transfer videos to the external card from my PC. Is that enough for you? This is a wonderful tablet with a beautiful screen that will almost double as a PC laptop when MS releases their office programs to Android. I use it every day and also take it to board meetings where I refer to spreadsheet data. A word of advice..get the note pro 12.2 for it's wi fi capabilities.
