Consistent notifications

I'm considering getting a Gear S2 to use with my Galaxy S6 mainly for seeing incoming notifications (text messages, emails, etc). I'm currently using a Garmin Vivosmart fitness band which is lightweight and has great battery life, but I get inconsistent notifications because it is reliant on a Garmin app called "connect" which seems to fail frequently on my S6. Can Gear S2 owners tell me how consistent notifications appear on their S2 wearable? Do you miss notifications often? Thanks.

They're good on the S2, not perfect. I had to fiddle around with settings at first, and I restart my watch every few days, and so it's been about a month since the last time I noticed a missed notification.
