Hello ...

I thought I would try to help anyone who has issues with their contact groups after receiving the Gingerbread update. I will list the things that will help resolve your problems.

1) Go to your contacts and import them onto your SD card and then export them out to Gmail. The reason for doing this is to make sure the formatting is uniform with all the contacts. Because a large number of my contacts originated from Verizon's Backup Assistant, I never had a fully functional Gmail account. You will really see how this hinders you after the GB update. However, once this task and few others are completed, you will have a lot more control of your contacts, pictures in contacts, and groups that actually sync back and forth from Gmail to your phone.

If you find you have some contact doubles after this, there is a merge function and Gmail and it works quite well.

2) Go to the app market and download DW Contact Manager. There is a free version and a $5 version. I paid the $5 because I was so aggravated by the time I learned about this app that I didn't want to take any chances. Also, I believe in giving back to the developers when a great product is provided.

DW is a much better app for contacts than the stock app, and downloading this app and importing and exporting my contacts made all the difference in the world. It took me a couple of days to figure things out and get everything in order, but now I have a much more stable contact and contact group system than I have ever had before. I also now know that when March rolls around and I can get a new 4G phone, my contacts and contact groups (which are my number one priority for) will sync seamlessly into the new phone.

Good Luck, ;)
