AC Question

I have Samsung Galaxy S6. There was an android 7.0 version update recently on my phone. Since the update I can't see contact names in my default messaging app and in my calls history.
I can only see contact number when I receive texts or phone calls.
To fix it I have so far tried few options.
1. Cleared contact, messages cache then restart phone, didn't work.
2. Clear phone cache then re boot, didn't work.
3. Changed one of the contact number to start with country code, it worked.
My question is, is there any other way to fix this issue rather than changing all the contacts to start with country code? I have 430 contacts in my phone book and I don't want waste time in fixing these all one by one.
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to the App Manager, select the Messaging app, then Permissions, and make sure it has permission to access your Contacts.

Thanks, but I would caution that this will probably work best if the contacts are Google contacts. Clearing the data from Contact Storage might wipe out any contacts that are saved only to the local Phone account (since those don't get backed up anywhere automatically).

On my Samsung Galaxy S7, I went to Phone App -> Settings -> Turn off and turn on "Hide contacts without numbers"

THANK YOU URBANMAN , BEEN TRYING FOR DAYS EVEN WITH att AND YOU NAILED IT. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANKYOU
