Contacts connected to Device multiple times?

Some but not all of my contacts on my Galaxy S5 have this issue.

If I open up a contact, their work and home phone numbers will be listed multiple times under that contact. I noticed that the contact is connected via Device multiple times. When I choose unlink contacts. Device is only listed once.

How did some contacts get connected to Device multiple times? How do I unconnect or delete so the contact is only connected to device once?

Welcome to Android Central! I don't know the specific answer, but let me ask you this--do you really need the contacts in the Device account? I usually recommend keeping your contacts in your Google account, so that they're safely synced with your Google Contacts in the cloud. That way, if something happens to the phone, you won't lose all of that information. If you use Google Contacts exclusively, then you could clear out all of those Device Account contacts, and you wouldn't have this issue.
