Contacts - Displaying Multiple Entries for Same Person

Hello all,

I'm having a problem with contacts that I am hoping can be corrected. When I create a contact, and then search for that person using the CONTACTS app, I see an entry for each contact type I entered. For example, I create a contact record for "JOHN SMITH" and he has an email address, and two phone numbers, when I go to contacts and type in JOHN SMITH, he comes up 3 times. The first one will have only his email, the second will have 1 phone number and the 3rd will have his second number.

Any ideas on how to fix this so I see one JOHN SMITH with ALL his contact info?

Do you use your Google account to save the contact info?
If yes, you can go to https://www.google.com/contacts, select Find duplicates and merge them there.

Hello,
I do use Google but your suggestion does not resolve my issue. The issue isn't that I have duplicate contact entries in my contacts in Google. I create a single contact in Google with 2 phone numbers and 2 email addresses (for example). When I search CONTACTS on my phone, I have 4 entries. Example:

I create John Smith in Google Contacts as follows:
John Smith
(email) jsmith@domain.com
Phone1 555-555-1212
Phone2- 556-555-1212

When I search on my phone for John Smith it comes back:
John Smith (when I open this entry I only see (email) jsmith@domain.com)
John Smith (when I open this entry i only see Phone1 555-555-1212)
John Smith (when I open this entry I only see Phone2- 556-555-1212)

Oh. That's a bit strange.
Which contact app are you using?
It might be tedious, but try joining those disparate accounts(I know it sounds ironical, since they are under the same contact).
Or, perhaps playing with contacts to display might work.

I am using the contact app that came with the Note 5. I took a look at the threads you suggested but still no luck.

Better try using Customize option under Contacts to display then. Hope it helps. Thanks!

Had same issue on Nokia phone running AndroidOne. Search contacts listed same entry from same account multiple times.

Tried clearing Contacts app cache, did not resolve.
Backed up contacts to google account,
Turned off sync.
Cleared contact app cache AND DATA.
Checked duplicates gone.
Resynced from google accoiunt. All is fine again
