I'm got my Droid sync'ing to my Google account and Facebook....I have an aunt Kathy and my mother's name is Kathryn, the only thing they have in common is the first three letters of their name, however Google contacts wants to merge them into one contact. I was able to get around this problem by renaming Kathryn to FooBar, letting it sync & create the contacts, then rename FooBar to Kathryn, but when I attempt the facebook sync it puts my mom's profile under my aunt's account. Is there anyway to manually control the facebook sync'ing?

So I found that I'm unable to create a separate "Kate Rife" and "Kathy Rife" in the Android contacts, no matter what I do it merges the two contacts together. From what I can tell Google looks at the first 3 letters of the first and last name and uses that to determine how to merge & sync contacts....seems flawed especially w/o any way of manually controlling the sync.

Somehow, a facebook friend (guy i haven't seen talked to in years) on my moms contact card... Nice.

the facebook app needs some work. i'm just glad for me that for me it's worked out fine.

who did the iphone facebook app? we need to get them to port that over to android. i would pay REAL DOLLARS for an app with that level of functionality.. :)

OK, so am I doing something wrong?

In facebook, under settings, I have it set to 30 minutes for refresh interval.

Every time I go into notifications, I have to manually refresh it to see any new notifications. Does the refresh interval not apply to this part of facebook?

Thakns

If you go in to edit the contact, then bring up the menu, there is a "Split" option that will separate the contacts. They'll stay separated after that, as long as you don't wipe your phone and then re-sync. I go through it every time I switch ROMs, it merges my brother (James) with my niece (Jamie).
There is an option somewhere to disable the auto-merging of accounts, but I don't remember exactly where I saw it.
