Contacts from gmail vs phone

Hello
I set the contact list to be selected from the Phone contacts only, and turned off the contact syncing from gmail.
However, when people called me, the contact appearing is still the contact name on Gmail, not contact name on my Phone.
Does anyone know how to switch completely? Thank you a lot, everyone.

Why would you want to switch? Having your contacts in the cloud is much more useful, especially if you ever have to reset your phone or when you switch to a new phone.

Yeah..but lots of customers have their contact details changed. I always changed on my Phone contacts, not Gmail contacts. Even my Gmail contacts now are really a big mess. That's why I want to use only one.

Mine are full of old outdated contacts, but when you update on the list, it's also updated in the cloud. I'd still rather use Google over just the phone.

Try using the merge contacts.
It may clean up your mess a little bit.
go to contacts> three dots upper right > select merge contacts
