Contacts Organization - Finally Want To Tackle The Beast (Using Outlook App)

I've always synced my contacts to the cloud but over the years with linked accounts, multiple accounts, it has just become messy and uncontrollable.

My preference is to use Outlook on my Note 7 and it worked well on my Note 5. I would let it sync my contacts and calendar from Google but e-mail only from my Outlook (@Live) account. I also let it sync everything on my Exchange account. And let me reiterate, contact syncing from my Outlook.com account IS off.

Here's the mess I am having. When I go to edit a contact in the stock contacts app, it may show several "tabs" of Outlook...most contacts start with GOOGLE but then have like 4-5 tabs for OUTLOOK and they all appear to be linked accounts.

Oddly, in contacts, my wife doesn't show in a Google Contact account but has 6 Outlook tabs.

What a mess...

I want to remain on Outlook but also want some cleaner contacts...

Any "best practices"? I know I do eventually need to clean up contacts but it just seems way too messy right now.
