Contemplating moving over to an iPhone 6...

Some tips
1. Turn off your mobile internet connection if Wlan and vice versa
2. Turn off google location history and just use GPS for your location
3. Change how your Wlan works in Standby (and set it to never(just your mobile connection))
4. Update your apps (including Widgets) yourself
5. If you are using Spotify use the offline mode

Hopefully I did not forget somethinng to mention.

I'm not sure why the normal battery app lists Hearthstone and GSam lists Brain Dots and I played Hearthstone. I charge my phone every night and unplug it in every morning and plug it back in so both apps have the same starting time.

Samsung knows that battery life would be a issue but come on there is fast charging for it. I would recommend the GS6E to anybody because personally I just hate the iSeries. Mac is decent but iPhone. Phew I just can't take it with the iPhone see. Even now I could only think of the negatives whenever iPhones come in my mind. I think it just depends on how you use the phone.

So I have had the edge since it came out and love the phone. I have used Android since switching from the iPhone 3G I believe, whichever was one of the first models. I love the idea of open source and being able to do whatever I want with my Android phone. However, recently at work they provided us with an iPhone 6. I have been using it the last couple of days and there are a few things I noticed that I truly miss.

True app switching - My edge still has problems switching apps. I can literally go between Instagram and FB Messenger and the Instagram app will load all the way back to the top, losing my place. The iPhone has zero problems with this it seems.

Fingerprint scanner - Just works on the iPhone. I never have any problems with it not reading my print.

Battery Life - Seriously the standby time and battery drain on the iPhone is night and day better than my edge. The edge literally cannot make it through one full day for me through moderate use. I just get awful battery life with it and it is becoming annoying to charge it 2, 3 times a day.

I know switching means I lose a lot of the Google services I enjoy, but it just feels like an overall better phone at the moment. I have still been able to find an Android phone that just works. Any thoughts/opinions on this, or has anyone felt, done, or been in the same situation?

I should add that my GF and almost everyone I know owns an iPhone and it is frustrating not being able to send videos/etc. to them or getting choppy quality videos. I know they will never switch to Android either. :(

All fair points....and quite frankly, if your primary use case for your phone is to launch applications from an "app drawer" or grid-view of icons....iOS is the way to go. There is no point in enduring the weaknesses of Android (battery / performance issues) if you're not taking advantage of the benefits.

The reason some Android users experience performance "lag" within the operating system, and battery power is expended at a higher rate is because Android IS doing more than displaying a grid-view of icons.

For example...I have a full month view of my calendar right on my desktop....I don't have to launch my calendar app to view what's going on this week. I pay for that advantage with additional RAM & battery power required to keep that calendar widget running & updated. I also have an email widget that gives me a view of my last 5+ emails...right on my desktop, without having to open my email app. It also requires additional memory & battery. I have my TV / AV Receiver remote control app running all the time on my lock screen & notifications menu so that I have easy access control of my home theatre....also requiring RAM & battery.

Since I'm leveraging a lot of Android features that require more memory, processing power & battery....my expectation is that my Android phone WILL drain faster than my wife's iPhone.....that again, (for the most part) displays a grid-view of icons.

That said....Samsung is working hard to eliminate the differentiating factors that make it a more attractive solution for people that are looking for something more robust / flexible than an iPhone. Removed removable battery (which mitigates the Android battery issues), removed removable SD cards (which mitigates the outrageous marketing markup for higher memory phones), removed water / dust proofing (as a sacrifice for mimicking Apple build materials), switched to less durable - but nicer looking / feeling build materials and removed the IR blaster.

There are plenty of situations where an iPhone is a better fit than an Android device.
- If you have a full Apple eco-system (iMac + iPad + Apple TV), the synergy with an iPhone is powerful....being able to AirPlay, take phone calls / face time calls from any of your apple devices, access to iTunes library, etc.
- iDevices are much more efficient if the primary use case is just launching applications from the desktop.
- Better App Market, given developers have fewer hardware profiles & software configurations to account for...vs Android app development
- Superior camera hardware than most Android devices

All that said, if you're looking for more customization / power user functions.....Android flagship phones run circles around iPhones

I have both the S6 and the iPhone 6. Was on the iPhone for a while because the battery lasted way longer and the OS had less Jank going on. Still a little but not nearly as much as on the S6. After a while I got bored and switched back to the S6. IOS does what it does well but its boring. Plus I missed the higher resolution screen on the S6 and the camera was a lot better at low light photos than the iPhone. I miss the ease of use on Android to transferring music and video files without having to use iTunes. Third party keyboards are horrible on IOS too. So for now until the new Nexus comes out I'll be using my S6 as my daily.

My galaxy s6 edge last longer than my iPhone 6 easily I don't know why all the love for the iPhone 6 . I think some people just don't know how to set up right because my s6 edge runs circles around my iPhone 6 and would not contemplate an iPhone again at the very least the 7.
