Convert existing handwritten note to text?

I think this has been covered but I'm going to take another stab at it. I recently bought a note 8 as a replacement for my paper notebooks.I am a contractor and for 29 years have used a notepad for taking measurements and doing estimates. My wife's company recently bought about 60 note 8's for their field guys and she is trying to tell me that you can write a note by hand then " click this button on the top" and it will convert everything to text. I told her she had lost her mind and ask her to show me how. I opened an s note and wrote down some words and asked her to demonstrate. She said she didn't see the button that the ones at work had and that I must have deleted something while I was " messing with it". I think she has lost her mind and that such a capability doesn't exist!........help.

You have to be using the Samsung keyboard that came stock with the note 8. Next to the space bar is either a cog or microphone, hold it down and choose the T with a pen next to it. That should bring up the writing area instead of a keyboard. While in Snote choose the capital T at the top and all your handwritten notes will be converted to text.

Houston we have a problem
You can't "write a note by hand THEN" click the button.

You click the button then do the handwriting.

Only hand writing AFTER you click the T.

Exactly! I know how to use handwriting recognition (which I hate, by the way). She was insistent that you could just write out a note and then hit a button and it would convert the already handwritten note to text. I didn't think that was possible but just wanted to make sure. I love my note just the way it is!

Hi! this is possible with the newer Notes. Use the lasso tool to select the handwriting you want to convert. Then choose transform, then text. Hope this helps.

What are limitations with this, if any?
I mean when it comes to just handwriting on the Note3/4.
(sorry, slight digression from the focus of this thread)
Is it very accurate, no matter how bad your handwriting is?
Have always wanted this capability, looking forward to testing it on my Note 4!

This is a feature of the S Note that comes with other Samsung models (S5 for sure). The icon for this is a white "S" on a red square, whereas the Note 8 version is the blue S on the tan square.

Google for S Note APK and you can easily find the file and sideload it onto your Note 8. You can select any area with the lasso tool, then click the Transform button and choose text. Very cool feature!
